Are all scooby drivers old men??

I'm 29, but have noticed all other scoob drivers seem to be middle-aged ; you guys dont seem that old so was wondering how old you are??If you my age, how much is your insurance??

I work in IT also, what is it about IT bods and sporty cars - maybe they counteract the nerdy tendancies that all IT people have in there somewhere......

Just passed 40, have been driving my Scoob since Jan this year, so was 39 when I bought it. Wish I'd bought one years ago...
Fuel? If it's a week when I only drive back and forth to work, I can just get away with £10/week, unless the traffic is particularly bad. Other than that I put fuel in when it gets low and don't worry too much. You're only young once.
Oh, forgot to mention - just had the insurance renewal through, £571 with Churchill. No claims, no points, garaged overnight, no mods.

54 (old bloke), first scoob + ppp + few other mods (group 19b) £434 FC (£250XS). There are a few advantages to age !
Remember when I had second (well sorted) Lotus 7, aged 23 at Uni the insurance was a bit steep !!! Luckily wife was working !

Aged 34 have been driving Imprezas since I was 30. Started much like yourself with a MY98 saloon as a company car - fully expensed, couldn't be better!!
Now driving an 01 wagon, insurance is £1200 inc Prodrive Performace Pack and petrol costs a fortune, but it's worth it.
Enjoy.

Aged 29 (not for that long though ).
Drive an MY00 wagon with (as yet) no mods (apart from coded side skirts). Insurance is a very reasonable 550 odds from Tesco.
I do have a Tracker Monitor installed though.
Petrol costs - errrm heaps.
Most worrying cost aspect though is when you get the car you want to do things like colour-code, get better ICE, 17/18 inch alloys, better tyres, brakes, PPP, Cibie's etc
All worth it though
Doofus.

Wow, 22 years old?????It must cost you a fortune in insurance!!!Are you Richard Bransons son or something???I heard of a 21 year old girl attemting to get insured on a P reg scoob, she's had a claim from when she drove a Fiesta, the only quote she could get was £10,000

Jim,
Once you have had it for a while I guarantee that the desire to do something to it will start to creep upwards......I had the same opinion this time last year when I took delivery.

I used to have a saxo with free insurance.. After two years apparently i'm a valued customer with direct line.. I live in the west midlands and got a quote of 1850£ a year, compared with the usual 3000£.. Chuffed or what!!

28 years old, bought the scoob in July - a silver MY00 saloon. Insurance is 700 FC. Petrol costs were initially scary, partly due to the high fuel prices at the time and partly because I was getting used to the car and doing more miles than usual. Was getting 220-240 to reserve.
Fitted a P1/STi backbox (cheers Mellow!) and fuel consumption is stacks better, I drive more sedately during the commute but hammer it at the weekend and still get 300 to reserve. Just filled up at 310 miles without the reserve light on, which includes around 150 brisk B-road miles at the weekend.
Overall I'm much happier now I've brought the fuel bills down, and have adjusted my driving style to suit the scoob.

29, again not for very long, have a UK300. Insurance £750 (not PPP'd until tomorrow), GF added another £130 - clean license full NCD in rural Northants. (Hmm Rural-See Car Thieves 2 post).
Fuel costs, I ignore them I fill it when it's empty and pretend it never happened. However Aag cost £42 for 280ish miles.

Bought my scoob when I was 26 owned for 3 years and loved every moment of it.
Went from a Audi UR quattro (wide bodied turbo) which I bought when I was 23 :-)
Audi was a fantastic car for someone else to own
Expensive to run was an understatement

Use the company insurance so anyone can drive it of any age fully comp for £60 a month. Swapped it for my 16vGTI tuned Golf Mk3 that was putting out 173Bhp. That was the same deal on insurance got it when i was 24. Company insurance are Ok with mods too.
