Ordinarily I would agree, but searching round seems to show a bit more of a premium for an sti RA.

Rubbish! I would defy anyone to buy a decent WRX for that money, let alone an STI Type-RA.

Not putting down his car but how do you know this one is 'decent'? 3500 seems about right to me. I know of one the same age with half the miles going for 3.5 or nearest offer.

I bought my 94' RA about 5 weeks ago.

Had a look at a few and they were all dogs except this 1.
It's immaculate. Still cant beleive the underside when I get it over the pit.

I paid around £5k for it and it was well worth it.

With an RA it would depend on what extras it has also, ie. ic spray, air con.

Is there a link to it, may buy a second one at that price

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.. At the end of the day its a 10 year old car and the insurance companies will not pay out top dollar so whats the point in suggesting £5k is acceptable because you'll never get that back?

I would have thought ~£4k.

Its an old car with a few miles on it - cant see it fetching much more than that.

Sti type RA's are probably the most sought after early classic impreza and do tend to fetch a higher price tag. I've seen this car down at Api and can confirm what David saying, its mint. As for milage does anyone really know how many miles their grey import has done? Clocks and paperwork can easily be doctored perhaps more emphasis should be placed on how well its looked after? I know people that have thought they were getting a low milage bargain only to let down a few weeks later when it goes bang!

I hav'nt suggested £5k.
This was the price I was prepared to pay for a good clean one.

Whats the point in spending £10K on mods/styling etc on a car thats only worth say £5k?

BUT MANY OF US DO IT

As for insurance, who has ever gotten back what the car is worth?

That would have been a WRX RA and not an STI RA. There was no STI in '93.

Very different cars.

Since when have people bought cars based on their insurance values?

Nobody intends to write off their cars just after they buy them, so insurance value is not related to market value.

Don't take any notice of [DAVEY] - I reckon he's PSLewis in disguise. His views are remarkably similar about costs for repairs and car prices.

V2 or V3?

I had been watching prices for these for about 12 months until recently purchasing one direct from Japan (on the boat now! )

Id say a mint low mileage V3 would go for £5500-£6K private ...so Id say high 4's for yours, maybe £5K on a good day

If its a V2 id say knock £500-600 off that

As for holding value? will only start to happen when the Japanese start to run out of them!
