Hmmmmmmmm...... Nice......

Was the paint flaking just to enhance the appearance more - I can't believe any company in their right mind would have powder coated them in that colour!

A mate of mine contracts for Goodyear, and apparently the next big thing is gonna be coloured tyres. I must admit I don't know why it's never been done before - something to do with the carbon black they have to use app. - but I'm looking forward to seeing all the Max'd up buckets with dayglo orange 'lo profiles!

Regards,

Deano

Question

U wanna be carefull.. I was laughing at a boy racer as he pulled up in his lime green nova with a big bore.. Little did i know he had a 280bhp 2.0 turbo under the bonnet..I did a full on launch from a set of traffic lights and he actually wheel spun away from my 255bhp impreza turbo MY99.. we got to 140mph and i bottled it.. He let me pass him and then came past me spinning the wheels at a tad under 120mph!!

I felt silly,

Pete

Speaking of wolves in sheeps clothing,

At the recent Elvington trackday there were 2. A 265bhp Vauxhall Belmont and a 300+bhp MG Maestro! Both very quick in a straight line but I was all over the Maestro through the corners (even in the dry).

There was also a modded Nova there that I lapped twice in an 8 lap race.

These modded little hatches may be very quick on the straight, but add bends (and rain) and the scoobs/evos and the like will wipe up.

CRAFT mate,

it dosent take einstein to work out that "lotus carlton" is a replica.

No carlton on earth would have venoms, and scooby and evo scoops.
will be some knobcheese with his 1.8 gl replica.
Theres a bloke near me whos got an exact replica (inc wheels and badges) apart from its RED (and slow, itsa GSi3000).

Theres some crazy cars about, i hate to get beat in a st8 line race, so thas y i bought a cossie, at 450+bhp its bye bye everything...

Theres 400+bhp scoobs in Oz, so there will be here soon so u wont hav2 worry about maestro turbos etc soon... jus cossies! lol

Oh and on the RSOC bb theres this kid from devon that reckons he works with a bloke with a 450bhp scooby? my ****? or is there?

Steve,

(And this is a serious question, not a p1ss take)

Do you find the cossie reliable at 450 bhp? I was put off having a 4wd sapphire cause people said if you mod them they spend more time in the garage than out of it. Hence I bought (and modded) a Scoob.

As for 450bhp Scoobs, I sincerely doubt it, although I am open to being proved wrong. You'd have to spend about £40k plus to get that I'd guess. I bet even Craig Hardman's doesn't produce that much??

I wudnt want a 4wd cossie with over 330bhp cuz the boxes are shiiiite (as scoobies and most 4wd's are with high power).

2wd is fine tho, ran same engine, runnin 30psi for a year now wit no probs, and i drive like a loon 99% of the time.

It has to be built proberly, by someone decent tho (like all cars), i dont think (no, im SURE) u could get a more reliable 400+bhp 2litre than a properly built cossie engine.

Ellis- lots of people say they got more power than they really have, this car was probably a crock of ****, a lot of cossies are.

ill turn my boost down to 23psi (shud be 350bhp), and ill kick your ***, easy.

Oh, this spending £40K+ to get 400bhp in scooby is why ive not got one (and how long will it last?).

Most people get their pants pulled down with car tuning prices,
but with my car i spent around 5grand (from 100% std inc new block) to get a REAL 450odd bhp. (a usable 450bhp too, including P8 managment and anti-lag).
Lots of people get charged more but never over, say, ten grand.

I wish there was somewhere like santa pod, where we cud race over 1/2 mile, thats a more realistic distance in relation to whos cars faster (because it wudnt matter how well the car launches off the mark).
I mean, on the road, u usually race for over 400m dont you?
Any ideas?

Thats just engine though.. What about breaks, Suspension, Diffs, gearboxes etc, etc, etc..

If u wanna go fast for 40K just buy a TVR Tuscan.. 0 -100 in 8 secs.. Sorted,

Ellis,

Hello?

brakes, susp etc is much cheaper on a cossie than a scoob, and yea i got it all, coil overs, 330mm disks etc.
I dont need a better g-box (the 500+bhp cossies use std box) and if it does die im jus 350quid out of pocket, just needs a clutch (350bucks), and the diff is ok (not perfect, but lasted me a year now and when they go its only cupla hundred 4 a new one, inc fitting)

How much are scoobie bits exactly (esp box, diffs, susp etc)???

Steve,

When you tune a car to 450bhp, does the torque go up accordingly or is there a point where the torque remains at around the same level and you just add extra bhp.

In other words do you also get about 400 lbs ft or is it less than this?

At 400 or so the torque is also about the same (a little lower), not so sure about higher up.
ill just go and find some graphs of 500 odd bhp cossie engines on dynos, and let u know.

bear with me mate.

It is a genuine Lotus Carlton, I used to see it around
before the transformation, but the driver does look like a
spoon, and again it's probably his own taste
