Default buying a scooby

Hi all.

I'm gonna buy a impreza, i'm looking for a 's' or 't' reg turbo 2000. I'm totally new to imprezas so any advice what to look for will be appreciated.
can anyone tell me about reliability e.g.
what sort of milage a scooby can do before needing a engine rebuild,
typical problems to look out for when viewing one.

Best type to get is a 1 owner from new with full Subaru service history and unmodified. Avoid the ones with lots of modifications and non standard (loud) dump valves.
The mileage required before an engine rebuild depends upon how it's been driven. Going for a standard car means the engine would have been less stressed so with being serviced regular should be in good condition.
Previous owner to mine was a guy in his mid 40's that had owned the car from new. The car was standard with full Subaru service history.
If you can stretch to a 99/2000 year model this has the updates like body coded bodywork etc.
