Depends what model it is really if it's a standard UK Turbo or WRX model then it will run OK on normal unleaded , but will run smoother on super /optimax . But if it's modded or especially a Jap import then it's Super all the way

If you ever take it to a reputable garage i.e. Scoobyclinic, Powerstation, Prosport etc. tell 'em that you hammer it on jet95 or some other less well known garage and watch them turn white

Use Optimax, or something similar.
Give the beast a treat !!
As I mentioned on a similar thread, I did 7,300 miles last year and it cost me an extra £88 to use Optimax over the year, as opposed to regular unleaded. What is £88 over a year - nothing to worry about, considering Subaru's poor fuel economy anyway.

I run my standard 01MY WRX on Optimax and although it grates me to pay £1.01 a litre the stuff really does make a difference to how the car behaves.
It is only 5p a litre more than standard unleaded round here so only works out at a couple of quid extra per tankfull.
Well worth it!!
I only run on normal juice now if I can't find a Shell garage. FWIW stay well clear of BP Ultimate, my car hated it.

Thanks
Makes me chuckle, buy a scoob then scrimp on what it needs to run it. Do you cyphon old oil out of your mower for it too?

Filled mine from day one on optimax its the best out there, but the last time i filled up on it a couple of weeks ago it was £1.10 a litre,Then i read in jap performance magizine that a lot of Evo owners are using Tesco super unleaded which is 99RON,so i went and filled up with that what a bargin 95p a litre,it fells just as good as optimax:luxhello if not better.

It should give added protection against det and it has superior cleaning properties for the cars fuel system.

i generally use the good old optimax as a rule but on the odd occaision i do tend to use the bp ultimate , not too bad either imo , and its a lot closer to me than a shell garage

Well, i know i'll get pounced on, but i swear by tescos 99 RON my 03 stippp(remapped) really does seem to run much better on it as opposed to optimax. Some engine tuners i have used say tescos 99 is crap, sorry but i'll go by how the car feels thanks!
And no, it ran better before the remap on tescos 99 too! lol
It's also about 6p a litre cheaper than optimax around here!
