Do the rally evo's still use the YAW control, is it taken out or are they all Rs's which dont have it anyway ? and is/would it be any good on a rally stage or is it only affective on normal roads ?

Might be a daft question and i obviously know nothing about rally driving but i've always wondered this.

Lower budget teams often remove the road going AYC because its not totally hardwearing (got my deliver mileage replacement unit from a rally car that had junked it in favour of a plated diff). However many use it and you can buy three flavours of software for it, road, fast road and rally. The rally software is listed by Mitsi as ' may have a negative inpact on unit life and is not covered by warrenty'

However the Group A and the WRC EVO's have a tougher much more expensive AYC unit.

Thought the new WRC rules prohibited the use of active diffs now??

Pretty sure they all have to use passive type now.

Your right !

Front and rear are mechanical only to reduce costs !!! though the center remains active.

Bloody rule makers getting rid of development routes. The AYC is a fantastic bit of kit, but why bother developing it if your not allowed to use it in competion.

Why don't they f*ck off and die, all the same group of w&nkers just like Ecclestone. Please some one do the decent thing and assasinate them.

As a UK hill climber and in direct competition with several EVO 6's that vid is NOT speeded-up.
No tyre squeel because he is (sensibly) not on road tyres.
The car is gutted (see the start pic) and he really does know that car!

Nothing coming the other way is obviously allowing flat-out driving, linking all the curves together and gears is superbly sorted, look at the way he can carry the speed in and get out even on 3 wheels, difficult even with magic diffs.

Glad he's not in my class over here.

European Hill climb are so very different to ours. UK ones are very short (about 55 seconds for the longest/ 28 secs for the shortest)

By means of comparison, here's my Sti on the longest in the country. I'm a fool of a driver, and there are several I can think of much much quicker than me.
I've linked a run of a road going BMW CSL for comparison. He is 5 seconds slower than the Impreza.

Exactly, sideways and loose is not quick, the EVO dosen't fly sideways anywhere but would be really quick at that meeting.

Now that's a proper hillclimb eh Graham?

We should plan a Euro trip combined with hillclimb to somewhere like that in the future

There is one corner where he does lose the back end and so loses a smidgeon of time - look closely

I think so too.

The zoom seemed too fast (both in an out) and the ability to keep the car in the centre of frame didn't seem possible considering the supposed speed.

Terry:

Some of our club members do a double weekend, one in France, other in Belgium.
Bad news is you must have an International License, crash hat, overalls and an FIA cage to compete. I've got the last bit....

Camera speed?
I've seen pleanty of pro videos of hill climbs and they mostly look like that. I am sure that car goes that fast after watching and competing for 14 years.

Forgive him a slip! That is a seriously fast run at very high speed, one slip and the ARMCO/trees are waiting for you.

If you think you can do better then get the car, the gear and come hill climbing next year with Terry's Championship!!
