it wont sound stupid (like mine)
if it is standard it will probably be rusty, have a huge rear silencer and 2 pea shooter chrome tip outlets.

Two small outlet pipes and a complete lack of noise from the standard system are the main two clues.
If that doesn't give it away, put your foot down at 70mph in top. If it pulls quietly and gently like a 2L Vectra/Mondeo, you have a standard exhaust. If it roars a bit and actually accelerates, you have a full exhaust system on!
