When stationary turn it to the right, you should see some numbers then on the LCD panel near it, turn it to the rev you want then it will beep then turn it again and it will eiether say YES or NO which refers to whether or not it will beep as well as light

So whats an F1, rally driver or touring car drivers excuse for having them.
After all, they are pro's and should know when to change.

Put the thing in the box marked, "I/C Water Spray and CockLink" .....
The 'Useless' box ........
FFS if you don't know when to change gear you should NOT be let ANYWHERE near an Impreza!!!
It's a spin-off from a PS game!!

The car has to be stationary for it to be alltered.
So you goy an STI then - any pictures.
For the record, it is a useful tool to have, particularly at the beginging when you are getting used to the car. They do pull very quickly through the revs and if you are not used to it, you can very quickly find yourself on the limit.
Personally, I have mine set at 6500 which means by the time I change gear, I am at about 7000 which is more than enough.
Make sure and not accidentally de-activate the beep (it flashes and beeps.)
Ignore others slagging them off - they are just jealous!!!!!!!

I have a brain that tells me when to change gear .... however fast it all happens I still maintain full control.
But then again, I am not of the Playstation era, I am a REAL driver!

i thought you only changed gear when you hit the rev limiter
surely thats wot a rev limiter is for, to enable you to use the engine across its full rev range in order to maximise the full potential of its output.
Whats the point in having an engine that revs to 7000rpm but never going past 3500, you are only usiing half its capability, get something that only goes to 3500rpm to start with like a diesel
I mean you dont buy a 42" plasma telly but only watch 21" of it do ya

What a muppet. I was forgetting they couldn't hear the engine revs or see a rev counter because they are in a racing car...silly me.
Wonder what they did before flashing lights were invented.
Maybe in the didn't have racing cars back then

You won't need to! By the time you think about changing gear you'll be bouncing off the rev limiter. You will hear and feel that. Keep making a habit of it and you won't need a beep you'll hear a pop (That'll be your engine), that will let you know to change into neutral and coast to the side off the road with your hazzard lights on
There's no point in changing up too high up the range after peak power has tailed off.
I've set mine to 6800.

i recall a past post stating that boost was rapidly fading at 5500 revs. with this in mind is it best to set the revs to around 6000 for max performance.
i am refering to cars running standard boost.
