Default Knocking Suspension Again but ....

I've had Eibach springs fitted and wondered if the knocking noise is caused by the changes made with the springs (MY06 Wagon) or I'm in the middle of yet another Faulty Subaru strut problem.

Think my Warranty will be goosed anyway with the springs changed ?

anyone on the same setup ?

Craig.

Had the same problem with a MY05WRX. I have had 2 sets of new struts fitted under warrantee AFTER I had Eibachs fitted!!

I still think the knocking will come back though.

I had the knocking from the rear of my wagon too, I got it sorted a few weeks ago , I thought it would be the usual rear strut problem but it turned out they re-packed the rear headlining and problem sorted !!. I didn't believe the guy when he told me because the noise was a matallic clonk type noise , but the service guy told me that they had had a few wagons in with the same symptoms now and knew what to do straight away . It seems they squirt some expanding foam filler in there somewhere (I know this because some was stuck to my rear bumper ) and this stops some kind of flexing therefore stops the noise .If your dealer doesn't know of this fix get them to call Days of Chelmsford and find out about it

Dave
Edited to say mine is a MY03 though

Your warranty should be fine as Subaru dealers sell Eibach springs badged as Prodrive, and under the rules defined by the EU you must use parts of equal or higher quality than those originally fitted. If they are prepared to sell Eibachs under the premise of them being an upgrade, or better, then your Eibachs must ergo be as good if not better than the OE springs.

Craig, I'd be shocked if they moaned about the warranty with just changing the springs.

Wink

I had a slight knocking but just at slow speeds in a car park turning left but can live with it for the smiles it gives me on the twistys

They really do transform the handling when you have the Geometry done and poly bushes /droplinks

thanks to AS performance for that little <adjustment >

Thanks for the info guys

well I'm a little happier now most of you think the Warranty will be ok. I'll mention the expanding foam problem/fix to them too and see what they say.

New-age Scoobs are famous for top-mounts going, mostly on STi's but I would think they're probably the same item that gets a bit more abuse in STi's due to the stiffer struts.

You should do , the service guy told me that they had had a few in with it and at first Subaru said they hadn't had any others with the problem , then as time went by I guess they realised there was !! As I said earlier if in doubt speak to Days of Chelmsford (I think the service manager was called Lee who told me about it )as they are aware of the problem
