Default superchip vs ecutek

A bit of advice please.

My local tuning place Xtreme motorsport in Harlow are offering superchips for a 40bhp gain for £511.

Whats the difference between this and an ecutek upgrade

Am I better off going for a superchip on an un-modded car or Ecutek with some upgrades(filter/backbox)

I think it would cost a lot more for the ecutek

MY02 Wrx

Please advise

I think what the guy is syaing is DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT PUTTING A SUPERCHIP IN IT...
ECUTEK for £500-£550 + vat is your best option..
An ECUTEK will be mapped to whatever modifications you have on your car at the time.
I'm not even going to waste my breath on what a superchip wont do on an 02 impreza.

Before you invest in an ECU-Tek though, decide what youd like to do to the car..... It makes more sense to change everything (that requires a re-map) to the car at once and then map to suit (for example de-cat/high flow cat or larger turbo, different headers etc).

Hi Mate,

If you're planning on spending that kind of money go to a specialist. Give Xtreme Scoobies a call on 01245 363623 and have chat to them and raise the Super Chips query with them.

I'm no expert but they are and very highly regarded with the ESC see their section. I've used them and would at least use them as a benchmark.

Regards

Esh

Ecutek all the way. This is a custom remap of fueling to suit your car keeping all the inbuilt safety precautions in place.

As capita said - the original cost is expensive as it includes the ecutek license. Any further mods and remapping is just charged at mappers hourly rate.

been told that a super chip prevents the ecu from seeing the boost pressure of the engine, not sure if that is correct though

I believe it is true - stops fuel cut from overboost, an important safety feature. All the superchip does is increase boost.

Not a problem with an Ecutek as all these limits can be safely modified.
