Honda S2000
I had one of these sitting behind me at the lights earlier. As we hit a straight i expected to start gradually losing him, but the opposite occured. He slowly crept up and then overtook me in my 94 WRX import .
Mines standard except for a back box, need to start buying bolt-ons so this doesn't happen again.
Anyone know the specs for these S2000's ?

Ok I'm obviously not in on the joke. Its so nice coming to a forum and people make you feel like an outsider, seems to be only the newbie's that will help people out. The regulars make you feel unwelcome.

To lighten the mood 94:
A few years ago I used to own a (no more than 240 bhp) 93 Pulsar GTiR. I was on the A10 heading north towards the M25 (junc 25). Behind me was an s2000.
We both shot off and were soon up to and over 90-100 mph. He was well up for it. Me too! And I left him. As I slowed down I moved into the left hand land at the next set of lights (Halfway house for any locals) when he came up along side he lowered his window and started bragging about being held back as I was in front of him. I simply said he had no excuses now. We both raced off when the lights went green and I really nailed him then. At that striaght we hit about 120 maybe even 130 and he didn't catch me. No even bridge the gap of a fair few car lengths. He didn't evenj bother to concede. He blanked me at the next set of lights.
Not too sure about the subaru though. The newer models have about 230/ 40bhp on tap now. They're great cars. I've got a type r so would poo over it again!
I used to have a 94 WRX and it had a bleed valve, fuel regulator, exhaust, induction and boost, oil pressure / temp gauges. PowerStation (Gloucester) set it up to a near 280 BHP on the rolling road. Its a fairly cost effective way of hiking power but don't play wiith the bleed valve once set up.
Regards
Esh

The 99 S2000: 1260kg, 240bhp, 208lb/ft, 0-60 in 6s dead and top speed of 150mph (flat out at 9,000rpm in 6th). Quick cars, especially so in the right hands - just don't feel as quick as they are due to the power delivery if your used to turbo's.

I assume your scoob is 260bhp? Prob less since it's 12 years old maybe. The S2000 is 240bhp and only has to drive 2 wheels so drivetrain losses will be less (i.e. he's probably got more power at the wheels where it's important) as opposed to your 4 wheels. additionally your car is probably heavier too.
Regardless, were you happy with the performance of your car before coming against an S2000? There will ALWAYS be a faster car round the corner so why bother falling into the trap of trying to keep up with the jones as it were. By all means, go for more power if you feel your car is lacking or if simply you just want more, however to want more power just coz some other car is faster than you is rather pointless don't you think?

ESH - problem with 'testing' like that is that you have no idea how he was driving the car. He could of been short shifting, messing up gear changes etc... they are a match for most standardish Impreza's.

Hi Ben,
I'm no Mario Andretti. I have a heavy right foot and a strong (ahem) left hand for changing gears. Essential ingredients for the odd street race. I wouldn't be duped into doing anything like this now....But oh the good old days.
Without making this technical I have just expressed the facts of that night over 4 years ago. Did he had a dead body in the boot? Did I? Etc....

I know where your coming from Esh - is interesting to hear how things play out on the road. Think most of us did a few things when younger that we wouldn't do now...

A 94 WRX with only a backbox change should have about 240bhp.
As an S2000 has 240bhp and about the same weight, then it would probably be slightly faster when moving due to no 4WD losses?

Thing is after the lights is a short bend, which a few days ago when i floored it made the back end twitch so i probably sub-conciously didn't give it as much just in case he was beside me and i slid into him. After that i suppose he probably had the edge coming out of it, and had a slight advantage. It doesn't particularly matter because i stayed the same distance behind him all the way and out-braked him at the roundabout at the end.
I was just suprised really, thought the turbo may give me an advantage. My tyres are fairly ****, and its not like he shot past me so i'd say a few little tweeks here and there would swing in my favour. Standard brakes on mine also, but then i think he just bottled it in the end. Not sure wht he had done to it obviously but the backbox wasn't standard and judging from the noise it probably goes further than that.
I've been meaning to do little bits to it but just not got round to it yet.
Sorry to have had a rant, just unhelpful people get on my nerves.

Other thing,
The scoob is shaped like a brick, the s2000 should have lower drag which will help greatly 100+
Drove an F355, slower than my EVO up to 80, but kept going up to 170 (flat out in top). Aero makes a difference

The missues had a play with a Yellow S2000 in Reading a couple of weeks back, it tried it on at a set of lights, lets just say she expected so much more from it
