hi im thinking of de catting my car but im unsure, been looking at a site which says downpipe extra 30bhp, 2nd cat extra 10bhp, is this true? also if u do recomend it does the car make a much louder noise withouth the cats in place and how long does it take to put them back and take off for the mot.

Would help to know which model and what year your car is???

Not sure on the power increase figures to be honest but yes it will make it louder. If the bolts come undone easily should only be a 30min job to swap em for the MOT, if it's an early car, 93 for example, you probably won't need to swap back for the mot.

What you will need to do is get a boost controller of some description as otherwise the car will overboost, not good

To realise those gains you'll also need a remap (£600-ish).

I know on an STi you also run the risk of a CEL error (engine management light on dash). A remap would remove that too.

I'm de-catting mine on 22/5, with Andy F mapping on 24/5.

Can't wait!!!!!

Fully de-catted mine last week... CEL fix on ECU and no problems. No overboost, no spiking, running issues or remap. Its fine!!!

As stated above for the power, remap. I am just happier with the noise and throttle response at the moment.

Put a straight through centre section and 2nd cat by pass pipe on my 02 STI lastnight.

Did about 70 miles since and no CEL light? The by pass pipe allowed the sensor from the original pipe to fit straight in so i assume this solves the CEL light problems ?

Took it steady so far but seems to pull much better mid range.
