Default Tesco 99 RON Petrol in Greater Manchester?

Does anyone know if any of the Tesco's around Greater Manchester (ideally towards the Eastern side of Manchester) have the 99 RON fuel yet?

The nearest one to me (Glossop) doesn't seem to have it? Just fancy giving it a try to compare against Optimax - read a few post on here recently and want to see for myself.

Wigan and Chorley (ie at the Bolton Reebok stadium).

Been using it for a month now:

I read a review in a mag recently (think it was Banzai), and it said that BP ultimate gives better performance than Tesco 99.
Optimax came first, then Ultimate, then Tesco and finally standard unleaded.

The way I took it was they were saying not to be lured by the 99 Ron rating.

Sorry someone came to the door and I had to abort the thread halfway. I was going to say compared to BP Ultimate its actually cheaper but I find it less progressive in power delivery. It tends to give the power delivery a switch like effect i.e off then on. Its cheap though.

hhhmmmmm! People seem to be having different experiences in their particular cars - which is cool. So I guess I'll have to try some myself.

I have only ever run mine on Optimax in nearly 3 years (with the exception of 2 half tanks of Super when there was no Shell available). So I'm not really well placed to be able to make comparisons on different fuels. I've always taken the view that Optimax offers the highest RON (until Tesco's came along at least) and is regarded as having superior fuel system cleaning abilities, plus mine never misses a beat on the stuff.

Anyone know if the Tesco's in Stalybridge do the 99 RON stuff or the Tesco's Express at Hazlegrove?

Thumbs up

I remember a year or two ago on fifth gear when they tested Optimax, BP Ultimate and Super Unleaded (IIRC)

They dynoed a Polo GTI( I think) with each fuel and Optimax was the fuel that had a good increase in BHP while the others increased very slightly, when compared to Unleaded.

It was a while ago so some details may well be wrong

I used this for a few months and found my 96 classic to be very slumpy and unresponsive. Never been back since.

More prospective smacs members
Tescos in stockport do not yet have this, Tesco's in Glossop, macclesfield, and anywhere in between don't have it yet
If you check the green energy site, it hasn't even got cheshire or Greater Manchester on it!
Nearest is either Chesterfield or Barnsley at present
