Im afraid even with my bionic vision i cant tell if in doubt get it changed, i ended up selling my £4500 vectra gsi for scrap after taking the previous owners word the cambelt had been done.

i just had an engine rebuild. The previous cambelt had only been on there for under a thousand miles and i still put a new one on anyway. I snapped a cambelt on my impreza when i first got it and wouldn't ever take risks where there concerned again!
My advice would be change it straight away. They don't cost much and aren't that hard to do. Better safe than sorry

Whats actually happened...

I paid for a timing belt to be done at a garage, and now another garage is saying it has never been changed? Was wondering if anyone could have a looky at the pic! Know its hard to tell...

Even copying and pasting the image into a photoshop etc..makes it TOO difficult to tell bud...
What understanding do the garage have that say it has NOT been changed...?? What evidence do they have..??

Remember the belt is covered and so even one of a few years old will be dust and grime free possibly giving the impression of a newish belt...??

The issue here is clear, if in doubt change the belt..if it snaps etc its possibly terminal engine failure..!!

The only other issue is whether the original garage have charged you for work they have claimed to carry out but NOT actually done..

IMO speak to the garage that are suggesting it has NOT been done..be clear about the evidence that suggests it has not been done and THEN speak directly to the original garage about your findings... ?
