ECUTEK refers to software use to reconfigure the parameters of your ECU to suit the modifications to your car. When you get it done orginally, a good proportion of the cost pays for the licence for the software, the rest for the mapper's time and expertise. The software is nothing without the mapper; it's a tool and if you let a tool do the mapping, say goodbye to your engine. The right person can make a significant difference to the way the car goes without negative consequences for reliability.

You can have it done with no mods and it'll produce results, but for the best gains, you're really better off at least making exhaust modifications. A decatted and remapped UK Scooby WRX will generally achieve a figure of between 260-280bhp and similar torque with a much improved power band and responsiveness.

There are many reputable Ecutek mappers on here including:

Andy Forrest
Bob Rawle
Pavlo (Zen Performance)
Jolly Green Monster
Pat Hereborne

Have a word with them for more info.
