The rev limit is too low for an STI. As stated it appears to be an A-Series vehicle and although the first (two actually: of 100no. & of 200no.) run of STIs were 'altered production' and shared the base vehicles applied model number; they were based on B-Series cars.

firstly i thought the price was a bit high, but seems to have had a fair bit done to it.... so maybe its a realistic price.
try getting some more details before you place your bid.
The photo shows it as a L plate............mines a K plate, and thats a 93. So it has to be a late 93, or early 94 model.
the wheels and nurspec have to be a worth a few bob, ontop of the basic car value

Hi mate thats just an WRX not an STi cos i own a version 1 STi on a L plate and this car has some STi bits on it. Points of intrest are no oval STi badges on it (below side indicators),version 1 STi's didnt come with fog light covers (although ive got them on mine.),the rear spoiler isnt an STi one (STi spoiler is very high and is shaped like an arch, and its made of alloy with an STi logo fitted to it).
No interior shots of the seats (should have STi on them). Also there should be an Sti plate opposite the VIN plate to show which batch no: it is (mine is 158 of 200).
Hope that helps a little anyway STi's are a better long term investment
Good luck!!!

he may not know like yourself mate.
its not ultra low milage, but as its an import, i would clarify how many KM's were on it when it came into the country, and how many miles have the clocks been counting up.
looks to be very clean from the pictures, but i would not part with 3.5 k on any advert, go see it and drive it, contact him, many use ebay for advertising when selling cars.

i think im gonna have a look at the car, i rang the kid and explained that it wasnt a sti , he said it was cause of the vin plate, but i think he has admited defeat that it isnt, he thought it was when he bought it, he says its mint and there is nowt wrong with it, had it a year, he has a compant car coming thats why the sale, as for verifing the mileage he says it has the old mots to back it up,
when i look at it what should i look out for apart from the obvious bangs and stuff,
all info would be really appreciated, cheers.

An MOT wont back the milage up of what it was when it came into the country mate...
That will only tell you what miles were on it when it reached the MOT tester, which can be the same, but in far too many cases, they differ. You can be pretty certain that if by chance the vehicle has been clocked, it was done in this country, or which ever was its destination from japan, the japanese are so far not known to be doing this on the same scale as its been done over here.
Get a BIMTA certificate, that should tell you the recorded milage of when it was for sale in the japanese auction house.

have a read of the first 8 or 9 posts in this thread if you aint already done so mate, if its not got copies of derigistration docs, (i say copies as the origionals go to the DVLA) or any auction info, then the BIMTA cert is a must
