trade price on 03 sti ppp
Just had a phone conversation with motorpoint regarding chopping my 03 sti ppp in against an 06 wrx,£14995 brand new,im thinking hey nice price,so off the sales guy goes with the sales pitch, anyhow.
The guy takes my trade in details 03 sti ppp,60 k,prodrive alloys flaps, scott low splitter etc etc, tells me he will phone back in ten minutes with a cost to change figure
10 minutes later the phone rings,as promised with trade in value.

When I saw your post my guess at rediculously low trade price was £7,999 - thinking it would be lower than your actual offer
I chopped in an 03 Sti when it was a year old got 17k for it.
If I ever buy another Scoob I'll buy a three year old one off here .

The issue is you are getting the WRX for £3K off the normal price, so they are offering you £3K less than the normal trade in price on your car. If that was the case they are offering the equivilent of £10,800 on a 60K car......doesnt seem a million miles away does it? Probably worth £13K on the forecourt if they are lucky or £11.5K to you private sale.....
You dont always win with supermarkets ...... sell privately then go to them and start again. Bear in mind they arent keen on cash either, they make their money on finance.....

IMHO it comes down to the cost to change not the buy & trade in prices.
Just going thru this excercise at the mo with the MY05 cars still available and the advertised selling price is varying by the odd £2k but so are the trade-in prices. Cost to change I'm finding, therefore, is only varying by £200 or so.

Never ask about the value of subarus on here, it will only depress you, I think that because 70% of the people who post here dont have them, dont want them, or can't afford them, so they slag them and the drivers off,Its best to do a search on the car selling sites online, gives you a much better idea of value,

Supermarkets don't usually give a 'good' p/ex price due to the supposed low new car price/margins as said above. The price to change is certainly the one to watch. Also, chopping in rather than selling privately is worth at least £1k due to the hassle/timewasters/chavs etc.
FWIW I wasn't overly impressed with the new WRX in terms of performance and the nasty interior - stick with the cheapy Sti!

Yeah agree there matey
they were trying to push that 3X3 finance deal on me(i think they use to call it there boomerang deal or something)
anyhow 3 years warranty/servicing/breakdown etc
3 months deposit and 3 years payments etc
And give me 100% cashback(minus the three months payment deposit) for my car,i may have been tempted if they gave me nearer 12k for the car after i stripped it back to standard

Motorpoint send most of their px cars to auction so won't give you top price for a trade in. I doubt they would value your car higher with extras. Also 60000 miles is highish miles for an 03 car.
Probably best to sell private. Have any main dealers given you a price on your car?
I traded a Focus in to them a while back and got a realistic trade price for it.

Also found that PPP is worth roughly 50% of it's cost when traded in at a main dealer

I very nearly shoved his offer right back where it came from...

Trading in Scoobs you've had from new is rarely a pleasant exercise .
They're still worth it though .
