It seems that all the Manchester dealers are going out of business or loosing their franchise. Any recommendations for a 30,000 mile service local(ish) to Manchester. (MY99, UK 2 years old).

Regards,

Jon

Only had my scoob for 1 service, I used A.J. White over in Blackburn. C K in Eccles have a good reputation but are not a franchised dealer so you may have warranty problems.

A.J. were ok, but as I've only had 1 minor service with em and no warranty issues to sort they haven't really been put to the test. They were cheaper than A.P. Hynes though by about 30 quid.

If anyone knows of a dealer more local to Manchester I'd like to know, as blackburn is out of my way by quite a stretch.

Erm, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't IGW in Bolton loose their franchise 6 months ago? Not that they were any good anyway IMHO

I use Robinsons in Rochdale since Intermoto closed and I am very pleased with their help but not their choice of courtesy cars The 10% discount for SIDC members also comes in handy

Whip,
Do you mean Longsight for C+K, if we're thinking of the same place.

IGW went out of business some months ago. But if have risen from the ashes steer clear, I agree with Alex.

Robinsons are a good bunch of guys in my experience. But their service bay is frequently full so don't leave booking till the last min.

You might consider R N Goulden in Huddersfield or Monks Heath Motors near Macclesfield.

Cool

A.P Hynes has also gone out of business due to the owner retiring?. I'm not surprised he couldn't sell it, as a subaru dealer it was cr*p.

Adge,

How did you hear about AP Hynes?

No loss to the Scooby world for my money.I bought my first scoob from there in 98.
After sales service was dioabolical.I use Farmers in Matlock now where the Wagon came from.Much better IMO, even though it's 45 miles away.

Steve

Thanks for the replies guys. Yep IGW and AP Hynes no longer Subaru UK dealers, though IGW now imports European models. I need a Subaru dealer as still under warranty.

I have used AJ White and thought they where crap. They replaced my front and rear spoiler on my P1 and carried out the 7500 miles service. The front spoiler has been on for about 6 weeks and is now in a worse state than it was before. Their response to this was 'here's some touch up paint, sort it out yourself'.

I have since taken the car to Greenways in Norwich and when I told them the story they pi$$ed themselves laughing. They are now going to do the job properly.

Another dealer around Manchester is:
Monks Heath Motors
Chelford Road
Nether Alderley
Macclesfield
SK10 4SZ
Tel: 01625 861544
Fax: 01625 860080

They are a top dealership who are friendly appear to know what they are talking about.

Monks Heath are very friendly and very keen to keep their reputation in the midst of the Cheshire set.

AJ White are OK but a long way away - Hynes are no loss whatsoever to the scene - it speaks volumes when the sales staff fail to return calls when ringing to buy a P1 in my book and there's no way I'd have ever left it in their hands in the middle of Chorlton (a bit too close to Moss Side for my liking!).

Cool

SPJ Saw advert in the local paper the other weekend that all the cars and equipment were up for auction due to retirement. Sales service was cr*p I was treated with total disinterest when looking to buy, so bought elsewhere.

Had my 45000 miler last Tuesday at Monks Heath. Very friendly and got a new shape Impreza 2.0 GX as my courtesy car. I have been taking mine there since I bought it 18 months ago.
Agree about AP Hynes being crap, when I was looking to buy they were just completely disinterested and never called me back.
