Default Time for new MY06 or not

Okay I have a MY02 wrx at the moment with no mods and have a bit of spare cash to put to good use. The question is do I go for a new motor and get the 2.5 wrx. How different would this drive to my MY02. Does the 2.5 engine offer uch more. OR do I take the bull by the horns and get a MY04 sti with PPP (a different beast I know)
On a seperate note what sort of money would I get for a MY02 wrx UK supplied, 30k, with prodrive lights. Not bad nick.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a head to head review of MY05 and MY06 models.

There is a very nice JDM STi with 360bhp and 390lbs of torque in the for sale section, id personally go for that

Which won't be until at least the end of next year.

Don't bother with either. Get a new Golf GTI which will have 90% of the performance, handle better, better built, better interior, better paint, and hold on to its value a lot better.

To sum up, a lot BETTER

After owning a new Golf GTI, my experience suggests you might be bored to death with the lack of poke and excitment levels.

THe Golf is overpriced especially against price of Euro WRX.

How does the VXR compare with a WRX?

Personally I'd get a pre-registered STI blob-eye. My local dealer has two £21,990 with delivery mileage or even better a JDM model if you don't mind an import (just my opinion). Good luck searching.

Think I'd go for a pre-reg 05 as well

the least ugly of Subaru's latest offerings and at under 22 grand has got to be a bit of a bargain

Well evo mag picked the wrx when the 2 went head to head....

In a minute a VXR owner will be along saying that it was a pre production car and the suspension wasnt sorted and thats why it torque steered/ couldnt put its power down/ there only journo's what do they know etc etc etc

However, Evo now has long term VXR on a 55 plate which is obviously not a pre production car and they are still pointing out the same bad bits.

Also worth pointing out the VXR was 6-7 seconds behind the MY06 STI on EVO magazines test track.

Wouldnt bother with a FWD GTI, but the new R32 on the other hand!! :P

That new Mazda 3 MPS looks good, its the fastest out of all the new hot hatches, and a good spec\price.

Id stick with something like your impreza tbh, unless you REALLY REALLY want a stickered up chav king Astra\Focus that will shred front tyres and torque steer you into a wall :P

The R32 is almost universally described as a worse car than the GTI

Go for a Euro Import WRX. even if resale values do plummet, you will already be £5k better of come resale time.

(Guess what I just did!)

Don't forget to take into account the running cost of another WRX against a Golf GTI/VXR.

Scoob will depreciate faster, cost more to run for parts/servicing/fuel/insurance etc etc.

And for what benefits? You can corner a little faster than the GTI/VXR?

On pretty much all roads you won't even notice the difference!

Depends on what you want from your car. The 2.5 will be a bit more torquey but will be essentially the same car, if you fancy a real change then go for the STi (PPP/TSL etc). You'll keep the subaru keys but get a completely different car.

Test drive 'em. That's your best way.

I would reccommend that you test drive the 06 STi 2.5-you wont believe the difference between yours and it.
Ive got a modded 02 thats a fair bit quicker than std, and i was impressed by the "out of the box" performance/feel of the 2.5 car.

Gary.
