A positive Subaru thread for a change
The new 997 GT3 laps the Nurburgring (where its developed) in 7 mins 45 seconds. The old 996GT3 was 9 seconds slower doing 7 mins 54 seconds. Those are Porsche figures for standard cars (taken from EVO magazine).
The Subaru Spec C 2003 car (I think) managed a 7mins 59 second lap. That means a sub £30K Subaru is only 5 seconds off the pace of a 911 over twice the price.
Thats some achievment considering Porsche spend alot of time developing their cars at the ring .......
I am of course assuming that these times are for full flying laps, i'm pretty sure that is indeed the case.

GT3 RS managed a 7" 40 when on Pirelli Corsa's.
I had heard that time for the Spec C before, if I was going to buy another Scooby would be Spec C every time
Very impressive!!

I think considering the GT3 is set up specifically for the ring and the Impreza isnt ....... The GT3 has more power, higher speeds and acceleration the result is pretty impressive.
I know which I would have, and which would continue to lap day and night, but at less than half the price its a good result.

I've not had the pleasure of driving a GT3, but I'd also wager that the Scooby would be the easier car to drive on the road and get the most from without scaring yourself witless too.
If money was no object though........

They do quite a bit of developement of the Spec C at the Ring also.
Likewise with the Evo
IIRC the Spec adorns a Nürburgring sticker from the factory.

Shows the outline of the track with 'Spec C - Keep attacking the Nurburgring' slogan on it
