Default Admiral Insurance...

Before you say yes I know there is APlan etc and Admiral isnt the best Insurer, but for anyone with Admiral now word of advice...

Got current policy with them for PPP on an STI, I have MY05 STI with PPP took them a while but they have a label WRX STI Type UK 310bhp, the girl checked and yes it says prodrive ecu, and zorst etc. Very nice price 680 quid full comp, I am an old git ;-)

Anyways rang em up about mods, I was planning on TSL Thunder Zorst, Panel Filter, APS Cooler and 333 remap, Admiral are fine with all the items except the remap, they will NOT insure any scooby, well certainly my model type over 310bhp period...ah well time for Aplan I guess.

Im with admiral, only because it was the cheapest to transfer my company 8 years no claims to, £720 for my MY05 STI PPP (listed as STI '301 BHP') protected no claims

Next time round i can go to a 'normal' insurance quote as my no claims will look normal.

Directline quoted me £480 fully comp with PPP. (STi PPP was £565)

I live in a low risk area and heading towards being an old git. 10 years no claims bonus, Advanced Driving test, and most importantly a clean licence, oh and one small child (no idea why that helps).

Scarey but even 3 points would increase my premium massively (I asked about 3 points), I would go from low risk to sinner.

3 points made little difference to my wife's premium, but then she drives a Skoda Fabria. I had to take her off my Scobby insurance as directline wobbled about her now being a bloddy high risk!

Basically if you drive a low insurance group car, 3 points has a mininal effect. But on a high insurance group car with a low risk low premium insurance company it has a major effect.

I know some will say they have points and the increase with speeding points is mininal, this maybe so when they have already stung you for £1000 insurance, they only ask a bit more.

Directline is the cheapest insurance by a mile I've found until you speed or make a claim.

Thanks life folks!

Tesco's £1400, direct line £1300, NU - no sorry 'were scared of you awsome 300BHP', A-PLAN - cant transfer no claims, Greenlight - cant transfer no claims

So basically i was buggered, next year will be different, i expect to be paying about £600, i live 'near' leeds but not in it so im not in too high a risk area either (no points)

I must point out that i also have my girl friend on my insurance with her SP30 (85 in a 50! - 5 points tho) and 2 claims (one her fault, as you cant claim against people putting a new wall around their house and then say, well it wasnt like that yesterday)

well I just phoned APlan they quoted me between 480 and 550 (my ins wont start until 1st August) for 'normal' STI PPP, with TSL 333 mods they would add another 100 pounds so taking the max 550 + 100 = 650 I think thats an excellent premium. 550 with directline is damn good though, how old are you 85
