I think you would, I could feel and see the differance on the boost gauge when the dealer changed the air filter on mine, But they change them every 3 yrs so it had done 30,000 on one air filter. It might be wort changing it a bit more often.

There are a lot of different view on this.
Most of the time whan a panel filter is changed the old one is very dirty,
so the flow rate is already less than even a new paper filter.

Swapping for a high flow element such as STI/J&R etc will show slight
improvements in breathing, but don't expect too much.

I have a J&R combined with removal of the ram-air scoop (which conveniently sits right behind three rubber seals at the front of the bonnet, just above the radiator, ensuring lots of hot, dirty engine bay air is induced) and the intake resonator (which resides in the O/S wing and quietens down the induction, as well as restricting it) and I can now hear induction, turbo spool-up and the OE recirc DV venting. It seems to spool up a little sooner too, and runs a little cooler in traffic as it now gets loads of cool, clean air from the wing, not the filthy hot engine bay. If you want instructions, get in touch.
