Just fitted a set of ported headers and uppipe to my m/y94 wrx, kindly ported for me by Harvey Smith. What a differance they make, it like a differant car! The turbo spool up is so much quicker and it pulls alot harder now! Big thanks to Harvey for a superb job and excellant service!
Had a set, along with the uppipe, and I'm a big fan. Early spool up, no power loss over aftermarket semi-equal length headers and, fwiw, they sound really nice too. I'd suggest asking Harvey to wrap them; absolutely perfect!

Best wrapped, which again Harvey can do, IIRC £100 ( maybe plus wrap too, I forget! ).
They do work well for std, near std, and mildly/medium modded cars, no need for tubular ones / bigger bore ones until you are going for really high power and can live with some low/mid range loss. ( Some cars using these are high 300 bhp! Maybe more!!)
Bloody Hell! Thats cheap! I have a reasonably good understanding of car prep but Im not really sure what to expect with ported manifolds and up-pipe..... If I use a standard TD04 (as opposed to Andy Forrests hybrid '04) then how exactly will it affect both power/torque and delivery characteristics? Are they better used along with accompanying parts or can they be used on an otherwise standard car? I need to retain the standard ECU if possible.

Will these headers work with a Prodrive PPP ecu for a My 2000 Classic or is a re map required?
Car has no cat down pipe so would turbo spool up too quickly and over boost with the ported headers.(Just got centre cat on)
Advise please.

Yes it is quite cheap, but when you add it all up its £200 +, and a cheap set of tubular headers are not much more, although good long lasting ones are more expensive. And need lagging too! And if bigger bore would add lag etc.
On a Std TD04 - would be OK, the boost will build earlier and may last longer, and may even gain a psi or so. So Small increase in power across the rev range ( 2400 - RPM limit / turbo boost limit), and some reasonable increase in torque from low down. The boost will begin earlier and feel more powerful.
Shouldn't really need a remap, so can retain std ecu, and works well with both std parts and aftermarket parts.

I did post above that there were several price points for the features - porting alone ( £100 ), + lagging ( £100 .. plus say £60 for the wrap if not included ), and postage each way! Dunno if that included any tax ..
Yeah, you're right, you could get a set of tubular headers for less than / not much more than that amount ... but research the pro's and con's of them, as too big primary pipes or up-pipe can reduce performance / spool up until you get to high exhaust gas flows / high powers etc.

I have just been quoted around £115.00 + post form harvey. That is suppying them to him stripped down ready for porting and then putting back together my self and wrapping myself. Maybe £300 and odd included fitting?
i don't understand that.. i would be happy to pay 115... i wanted them wrapped too though.. i'd have no issues with that what so ever.. i'd strip them myself too.. maybe there was a mistake in my email...
Must have been as i have just had the standard email reply from Harvey, £115 for the porting, £50 for the wrap, £50 for the wrapping work, £15 for dressing and £12 or so for the postage.
total is £242 for the full monty.
Perhaps your quote is based on hime supplying the original headers too? I just bought some good condition headers from ebay for £50 so that I can still drive while the work is being done. Will sell my old headers once the job is done.

sorry i just re-read the email.. it is the 242 for the whole works.. which is pretty good really!! i was reading with a new up pipe aswell!! sorry Harvey. I thought it seemed a bit steep lol!! Can't go wrong for that money and the reviews it gets seems like it has to be done!
