Question WR1 Spec

After much thought i am now edging towards a WR1 rather than a STI Type UK but what is the spec for a WR1

1,BHP ?
2,What extra toys has it got over a STI Type UK ?

1. 320

2. Colour, Springs, Grill, PPP as Standard, DCCD[although current Sti's now have this], 18" PFF7 Wheels

You would be better off with a JDM model of the same year, similar power, more torque and thats unmapped plus you get more goodies

I believe it's actually 320 ps, but that's splitting hairs.

The rest is correct, you also don't have to put up with those garish blue seats, the WR1 got charcoal inserts instead of the blue.

You also get front driving lights that you'll never use, instead of covers with nothing behind them.

Oh and the key ring, tiny in car plaque (or is that something on your teeth), the numbered tax disc holder, and WR1 branded matts.

The downside is that you get to service it twice as often as a standard STI.... but it aint that bad, the 5k is just an oil change, the cost of which pales into insignificance with the other costs of running a scoob - and you'll save at least that much on the insurance over the STI PPP.

Thumbs up

we are a real nice bunch over their matey so feel free to come across and question our vast banks of knowledge about the cars. Lots of drivers of all marques of Subaru are members so you will always get input from all types of driver to help your decisions.

P1-Mark was banned from the site because he continually posted up absolute rubbish and generally did not keep in with the whole ethos of the site, as well as being the start of every negative post and argument. Because of this he now has a major major chip on his shoulder so I wouldn't worry about his rants. You won't have to encounter him on WR1oc.

Hope you get hold of the info you require matey.

This is not the opinion of the majority on the WR1oc. Quite the opposite as I believe it is that of Gangsta Smurf only. Problem is, there is a significant percentage who can't convey their opinions until someone tells them what their opinion really is!!

I for one think it is a travesty how small minds have treated Marky Mark who in MY opinion knows more about the WR1 than 99% of the WR1 owners.

Regards posting rubbish - that is complete rubbish.

The more I think about your post Gangsta the more I can't believe the lies that you are telling.

Lets face it, there will be no love lost between you and me but you are posting in a forum here where you have little support as a person. Why do it and try to slate a good man?

Yes, I saw the PM that Marky Mark sent to you..... I think he hit the nail on the head on a number of points and these comments on here just go to add value to his PM.

Wasn't this about the differences of a WR1 against a standard Sti TYpe UK?

NOT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE!!!! (regardless of merit)

This is the sort of thing that discourages people from posting IMHO

OK guys (keeping back on track!)

The major differences between a WR1 and TypeUK are remapped ECU, sports exhaust, lowered uprated (progressive rate) dampers and the prodrive PFF7 18" wheels. The *claimed* output and I know this has differed car to car is 320bhp with 311 lb.ft of torque. Now Im not an expert on scoobs but have had 3 now and been in many more and its the best Ive been in. Why because the power delivery is constant and it just doesnt run out of steam even when you start hitting speeds of 80+. I dont know what the JDM situation is regarding servicing is these days but I had a JDM STI back in 99 and it was too much hassle for me to consider going the import route again. The other thing to watch out for on a JDM is the insurance, the WR1 is a standard production model and is listed as such by the insurers so you should get a reasonable quote.

One thing I didnt realise on the WR1 is as someone said the servicing interval is a mere 5000 miles but hey cant have it all!

Ive only had mine a couple of weeks but I absolutely have no regrets.

Gary

I think anyone going on the WR1oc-forum will quickly get the point on the moderator in question.

This guy does not seem to understand the basic idea of having a forum, being an area for having open discussions and collusion of different opinions related to a common subject.

If the opinion is even a little bit against the WR1, or worse against Gangsta Smurf himself, he seems to feel the need for playing God, threatens people straight away and abuses his powers as moderator.

Fortunately, there seems to be a good number of very nice people out there. Worth a visit.

the small minded idiots do though matey ... it appears that they actually loose sleep over it and it affects their day to day actions. I'm not one that likes male attention but I guess it is a liberal society now so if Bro and Mark want to base their existences around what I say and do then good luck to them!

No lives you see - nothing else to do apart from rack up posts on an internet forum with imaginary friends!

PMSL !!

You guys need to go into politics.

All these Gangsta comments are indeed off topic. As a summary, I'd say the main problem is the fact that a moderator should stay out of the discussion rather than force his opinion upon the participants. That's why he is a moderator.

To Poggo's point, check out the Wr1 forum. There are some good discussions at the moment around the WR1.
