Specs and Geodesy?
I don't know where the cameras are but shouldn't it work like this:
Aproaching camera 1 red lights increment and then flash with beep
Car travels for 1 mile to camera 2
during that mile and a the programmed distance Geodesy shows red lights then flashing red lights and sound.
Car passes Camera 2
Geodesy shows green lights counting away from specs.
Don't know if this is true don't know where a specs installation is near me.

I was concerned about the database quality/coverage in Scotland one quick email got a prompt response as below:
'Thank you for your email and your interest in our product.
Our database is very comprehensive for Scotland and although I cannot
guarantee that we have 100% coverage I think we are not far off.
However if you spot a camera we have not logged you win £50. This way we
both have an incentive to ensure that database is as complete as possible.'
Sound good just need to find £350 now....

I got a mail from Origin Technologies in reply to me asking about the subscription. This is what they said.
"Don't worry about subscribing to the update service at the moment, the first 3/4 months will be free whilst we check the system for bugs. We will then contact you to offer you a subscription."
I am definitely interested to know what has been said about this to the people who have organised the group buy.

I have spoken to these guys at length now and they basically confirmed what has already been said in this thread.
£350 is not a group buy price reduction, but this was intended asd an introductory offr until the end of this month. For the group buy they have increased the term of the offer.
I was also told that subscription will be free for 3/4 months and they will decided what will happen after that.
I am told they have pretty much 95% of all cameras.
Not everyone wins £50 for spotting new ones. When you press the record button, the info is downloaded immediately and noted at what time/date you pressed it. First to spot gets the prize and it is automatically uploaded when you plug into the modem.
Type of camera warning is great for specs.
I have one question.
Normal cameras have one site. The unit has a selectable range and also can alert you to cameras in affecting your direction of travel.
What I want to know is do the warnings stop immediately after you have passed the camera? this is great for one camera units, but if the warning sounded continuosly whilst driving between both specs cameras required for an average speed then things would be even better.
The thing is, I have spent so long talking to them, I dont want to ring up and ask again. Anyone else want to do it for me?

What Adam M has said is correct, we have not secured a massive price reduction, but we have secured an extension on the opening offer price.
I am sure you will agree that this is better than nothing
and I had to try didn't I?
To answer Adam M's question; If it is a single camera then the alert will cease after you have passed the camera. If it is SPECS then the alert will be continuous until you have passed all SPECS devices in the chain.

How?? I'm not aware of any capability to transmit thro' GSM or the like. Or is it that it stores the location and date/time in the unit and the next time you dial in at home it then sends the location info with the original date/time captured? ..and if the latter, how long before someone can hack the unit and change the date/times for new locations to be a bit earlier!!

Why would you need a 4m extension cable for?
Also, if it knows what direction you are going and whether the camera is positioned to "catch" you in that direction, what about those fixed cameras that they can rotate the camera on?

in answer to the question, it has its own date time recorder which uploads to the base.
You have to ask yourself if it is really worth hacking, and if so you still need to know how late you were in the prediction if you manage to find them at all.
I think it doesnt bear thinking about to be honest.
I ordered mine on monday, probably in haste but I dont care.
i also ordered the aerial extension.
It is useful as this unit is quite bulky (10x7x3 cm) and so will not be easily placed. The extension allows the aerial to be fixed next to the windscreen, so I can fit the unit either under my defi gauges with the volume turned up, or in my upper glove box (no airbag on 22B) or in my handbrake glove box assuming it fits.
All in all this will make it much neater!

Cable extension is so that you can mount the GPS aerial more than 1m away from the unit, i.e. at the back of the car, not on the dashboard.

When you say you can mount the GPS aerial away from the unit, does that mean the actual unit itself doesnt need to perch on top on the dash, you could mount it somewhere out of the way?
