Smile Looking for me first scooby

Hi guys found a 98r turbo 2000 Terzo in mica blue advertised for £5275,looks like a nice car with all the extras and full history but it has 118000 miles on it.

Basically is that a high mileage for a 98 scoob?,Whats likely to go wrong at 118000 miles? and is £5275 a bit cheap for a Terzo?.

I'm totally new to scoobys this will be my first so all help and advice you guys can give would be very appreciated.

Cheers.

Oh and if anyone knows of a 97 turbo for sale near Cambridge let us know the only ones I can find within 100 miles are 6 grand+

Terzos don't seem to go for much more than normal UK Turbos/WRXs - they are nowhere near as desirable as RB5s/P1s etc.

Don't spend 6k on a 97 Turbo if you can help it.

6 weeks ago I bought a MY00 Uk Turbo (W-reg) for £5k, standard apart from Magnex centre and back box - 95k but full service and very good condition.

A 97 should be 4k ish.

Have a look here:

A 96 granted, but it looks like he will take 3k for it. Looks pretty clean to me also.

Don't worry too much about higher mileage if the car has been looked after. Mine racked up 60k in 2 years on the motorway for e.g.

You will have to change some things. I had to change the clutch & MAF they cost £500 - so factor in such things when you are looking at a higher mileage car.

Cheers stiX I was thinking 6k was a bit steep for a 97.

I've got 6k to spend in total, was thinking maybe 5 to 5.5 for the car and the rest towards the insurance.

I'm after a 97 up really to be honest, I love the look of them especially the later P1 not that I can afford one.

Haven't seen a 97 for around 4 yet, though I have seen a rather tasty 99 for 6k very tempting looks like its in good nick too + low miles...mmmm....I feel another trip to the bank may be in order.

I'll keep an eye open for you, I was buying myself last month and there wasn't a lot in Cambridge at all - I ended up travelling south of London to get mine but I'm very happy with it - 98R STi with 75k in excellent condition for £5250

I'd definately recommend travelling to find the car you want - find out all you can on the phone then go to view with cash in pocket - better to do that than buy someting you aren't 100% happy with just because it's local.

As far as insurance goes, Keith Micheals seem to like the Cambridge postcodes so definately give them a buzz.

Cheers appreciate it, just been looking on line again and you're right looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of driving tomorrow.

Thanks for the insurance tip my best estimate at the moment is £650 fully comp with AXA via Adrian Flux for a 5k 97turbo 2000 I'll definately give Keith Micheals a go tomorrow though.

No worries - would love to be able to recommend something local but I found nothing sensible within 60 miles...

£650 here too with KM, but that's for the STi at 27 with 3 years NCB
