Default FAO scooby owners selling their old average/high mile Sh!tboxes:

If you have an impreza of 1997 vintage and older with more than 70000miles then it is worth roughly this much:
http://www.parkers.co.uk/pricing/use...&buyorsell=buy

So why are all these feejits on autotrader selling their aging chavved up sh!tboxes with 60K miles for £6+K??

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW...ch_full=SEARCH

And I wonder why people complain why they can't sell theirs and why people can't find a decent one for the right price

Not branding everyone with the same brush here. But there seems to be alot of cars with massively over-inflated sticker prices on autotrader atm...private and trade.

Seeing my car is better than a lot, perhaps I should stick mine in for £9K ...yeah right - as if, I'm not that stupid

The REAL money stays with the unmolested standard Uk cars as far as I can see.

Anything Chavved up with Mods is not wanted.

As are cars owned by kiddies under 25.

Makes sense really, imagine if you were looking for an Impreza? What would you want?

1. UK Car

2. Few Owners

3. Mature Owners, not Roy bacers

4. No modifications bar maybe a backbox and different Alloys

5. If it had a boost gauge and KnockLink then you would run a mile - the owner is a numptie

I've just payed £4000 for a 99/V DBM Subaru Impreza Turbo saloon with 100k but 1 owner and FSSH with lots of bills.

I am very happy indeed!!

It is an absolute joke what some people are trying to sell the pre-facelift classics and even the 97-98 models. Good luck with your sale though.

Parkers price guides are usually b*ll*cks, that's why all traders use Glass's Guide.

exactly true, to the word.

I paid £6500 for my '96 Import.
Thats what "I" thought it was worth and thats what "I" paid for it.

I dont care if i could have got a newer one or one with less mileage.
Its what "I" wanted.

and i'll probably spend another 1k on it as well.

dont expect my money back at all. and have my eyes open to that.

if you are worried about depreciation, take a look at the "New" car figures!!!

Dazza

Edited to say:

I also toyed with the idea of shelling out £200.00 per month on a brand new car.
this is £2400.00 per year, for a 1.8 ford that i'd never actually own!!! (wouldn't pay the final payment option)

I know what i'd sooner have!!!

If you go into it with your eyes wide open knowing how much you will lose then fair enough.

You won't be shocked by the insurance companies valuation in the event of a write-off and when you come to sell you advertise a fair price and get a quick sale.

If you are willing to pay £7k for a £5k car then so be it.

Parkers prices are generally pretty off the mark though - look at their delaer prices, then go and try and find a dealer selling the same car for that much - no chance !

This old chestnut is often true if people don't take into account mileage correction (£20-£100 per 1K miles depednding on car type and condition). But in this case, it's not far off my glasses book either.

As ewanrw's post stated: It's all fine and dandy paying it because you think it is worth it. But if you write it off or trade it in at a dealers then your losing alot of money indeed.

As for the sellers, well if they get their price, good for them. But why oh why do I hear from so many moaners saying they can't sell their car? Simple answer - too many of them and too much money.

I agree, wouldnt go with parkers guide prices. Some cars are worth paying a little extra for, unmolested, original and looked after, honest cars.

all joking aside mate, that's not actually a bad price.
have been phoning around for p/x against pre reg 2005 sti and the best offer i've had for my '99 uk turbo with 50,000 miles is £4.5k and as soon as i mention it's modded the line goes very quiet

one dealer even went as far to say they would only take standard with air con and only in blue or silver with my red one at a push (he even said they avoided the green ones )

my mate recently got 4k against his green saloon 99 turbo with 80kodd miles against an 04 sti, at first i thought he'd been done, now i'm not so sure

ride your luck with autotrader seems the only way, never know your car may be just what someone is looking for

you cant say all cars 97 or under are worth x amount, it aint the way it works, classics will raise in price that i will bet with anyone. same as series 1 rs turbos are now worth alot more than series 2. i paid 5k for my 93 imported wrx, 65000 miles. reason i paid this is cos i had it and the car was what i wanted, had looked around and seen nothing else taht took my fancy, i prefer the classics and am not a lover of the uk cars so why not, end of the day seller is happy buyer is happy...oh happy days! as for fitted boost gauges post, id rather buy a car with one in, least that way you know the boost is being monitored
