Complete Nooby to Scoobies
I am a complete newcomer to the world of Scoobies......
Until last weekend I had never even sat in one.........
Then a friend of a friend took me for a spin and nthen allowed me drive his............. Its a jap import 2 door coupe, 1998, blue with 16" gold alloys (other than that I don't know the spec) and he says its completely bog standard other than a stainless exhaust system............ ALL I KNOW IS I NOW WANT ONE !
Some questions (and forgive my complete lack of knowledge)
I don't want a 2.5 (I believe the new ones have bigger engine) but what sort of power (in bhp please as Watts to me mean "lightbulbs") is in ...
2.0 WRX
2.0 WRX STi
I'm looking for a 2002-2004 aged car and need to know whats the best "bang for buck", what should I look out for in secondhand scoobies and what should I avoid?
All help appreciated
I'm in Ireland by the way before anyone tries selling me theirs

WRX is 215bhp, STi 265 bhp for UK cars, JDM are a bit more on each.
Depends very much on what you want from the car, WRX is 5spd, less violent wont rape you where as an STI is stiffer, 6spd, better potential for modding........best get some test drives sorted and make your own findings
Oh yeah and Welcome to SN

Thanks for the info lads..........
I think the one I drove must be a Type R 300bhp......... I've certainly never been in anything as quick
Surprised that the Uk (and therefore Irish) spec WRX has only 215bhp????
I always thought any of the WRXs were in the high 200's.............
Are the UK ones geared differntly to JDM as well?
