As long as it's legal to use on the road I think. Most people use a motorcycle helmet.
When are you going on track then?

We had a guy turn up at Oulton in a builders hard-hat a couple of weeks ago. It did make us smile a bit. He didn't get out on track with it though
On a serious note, any bike helmet or car type helmet will do the job. Buy the best you can afford, and bear in mind that without the contents of the head the rest of the body don't work too well. I cannot stress this strongly enough.
You get what you pay for- and for trackday use I would recommend a full face helmet, especially if you're using normal seatbelts rather than harnesses, as you could theoretically hit the steering wheel with your face in the event of an accident.
I've seen it happen and it ain't nice.

cheers guys,
not sure yet tony, kinda double pronged thing realy, need one for work (quading and off road karting) but don't want to have to buy another on down the line. found this and kinda fits the bill but not sure if it would be ok to use.

want one with a fold up visor due to work, also like the feature of the inside dark visor.

What is that Micky Mouse piece of ****e? You cant cut corners on a helmet, witht he exception if Simpson (whose lids are designed for freakishly shaped American heads) there are only two good helmet makers: Arai and Shoei. Anything else is a false economy.

Thats not cheap is it? Youre right though; my strong opinions on helmets come from riding. My uncle's a well-known racer and Ive seen him go to scrutineering with some really ropey lids.... Opinions differ.

Make your mind up what you want it for before you buy.
If you are only driving the tin-top car, then an open face will be preferable.
If like me, you also want to use the same skid-lid for Karting days, then buy a full face.
The best advice though - would be to buy a half-decent helmet bag, or keep the box.

Just or your information, not ALL road going approved helmets are track approved, there should be a silverygold sticker on the lid if it is road approved and another green or blue can't remember which, sticker on it if it is track approved.
So unless they have changed the rules! do not take it for granted your skid lid is approved for track use.
my AGV helmet is track approved as it has both stickers on it.
