A third cat? at this rate by 2010 an Impreza will have more cats than London Zoo.
Are you sure about the 17" wheels? I thought Subaru had stated that they were putting 16" wheels on them, but that the Sti was going to come with 17".
By the fact that 1Nm of torqu is mentioned I assume the power figure is confirmed as being the same as the current model?

Will the extra cat reduce the air flow even more ?
Aircon ? - why dont they fit climate like the imports ?
Rally style bucket seats sound good though...

P.S Can you get different headlights ?!!

Trigger

Aircon might well be climate control, as it is just a general way of describing it.

AFAIK, the 17" rims came from the B4 RSK and climate a/c is a possibility.

My dealer had heard that the UK versions would be having a 'european' look adjustment.

Guess we'll have to wait until the motor show to find out.

Are they going to make any 'European Look' adjustments to the rear of the car?

I hope so.

Received EVO mag. this morning.

Quickly read the new impreza article and it seems that the U.K. versions will come with different headlights.

According to EVO they will still be round, but will look MUCH better than the Japanese ones.

Question

Can anyone offer a URL for examples of what sort of 'bucket' seat they might actually be? I'm a bit uneducated in the field of car seats.

The headlights for the european market are punished with exactly the same shape, the difference is inside. Lots of pics, also from the seats, on the japanese website..

When they say 'different' they mean that we will get the reflective type rather than the better looking (IMHO) gas discharge type. 'Different' does not mean better unfortunatly. Im my opinon, it means worse!!

Yep, I agree with Nimbus. Were being fobbed off with the cheaper alternative again under the smoke screen that they are euro-designed or whatever. Of course the fact is they look worse than the projector lamps in the jap spec, regardless of what Evo have been paid/co-erced/bribed or whatever into saying and are obviously cheaper and probably crappied performing. Of course we'll just have to wait to see if this is the case but it won't be long now.

Frankly reading the evo article it's beginning to sound like they are writing far from the truth and just try to produce as creative write ups as possible, only they're starting to run out of expletives and it doesn't quite wash. It's been a while now that I though evo lost the plot and this article just adds another nail in their coffin for me. I stopped subscribing when my subscription ran out in June!!

DON'T PANIC!!

AFAIK, the HID 'projector' lamps WILL be coming to the UK,. Just not at the launch of the car. Rather, they will be phased in as other WRX models become available in the UK...

The climate control cannot come to the UK due to European Type Aprroval regulations. Basically the design is 'illegal'.

Go to the Motor Show and all will be revealed. (Or watch ALL of Driven (it's on for an hour) on Channel 4 on Tuesday........)

I was at my local dealers today and they had one copy of the new impreza brochure and there are a quite a few exterior options available that improve the look of the front of the car quite a lot, the back still looks a bit naff though.

Why is climate a/c 'illegal'? Is it something to do with the switchgear?

The Japanese climate control has a built-in security device:

If someone gains entry to the vehicle, a jet of liquid nitrogen is ejected from beneath the stearing wheel, thus deep freezing the criminal's gonads.

I think that is why the climate control is illeagal in this country.

Hehe, edited due to the realisation that Subaru have bought the whole 3 minute advertising slot!! Shame I'll have to watch some of Drivel to see it!

I have posted further details onto the IWOC list and the website. It seems the 5 door won't be wide wheel arched/wide track like the 4 door. Interior wise the 5 door gets seats with side supports and the 4 door doesn't but gets side air bags! The 5 door also gets a full size spare and the 4 gets a space saver. I am also on the edge of my seat to find out what the umbrella storage hole is!

OK... fair enough but do I get my heated mirrors and rear wiper this time! Wash my mouth out... but I've been looking at an Audi S3 and it's starting to look an attractive buy! Mind you... brochure says "super unleaded"! minimal power loss on normal! Now I wonder what real difference there would be? Mind you... will hold out until I see what actually turns up at the motor show.

Red face

First an apology, then a clarification...

Seems as though the information I had supplied to me was a little bit wrong.

The car DOES have climate control the same as the Japanese spec. cars, it was the previous model Impreza that had non Type Approved climate control ( it was the facia buttons that were the problem...)

Also, the HID lamps are NOT coming to the UK in the foeseeable future. THIS is due to Type Approval problems, although a fix to this is being sought.

Otherwise, Steve Breen's site has got it right again!!!

i was at my dealer yesterday.

he had a my01 brochure and had been to the subaru uk launch of the car last week.

the brochure says the car will have semi-automatic air conditioning ? although i'm not 100% sure what this means ?

also confirms the bucket seats are not available til april 2001 but has a picture of them.

my dealer hopes to have a demo car in mid november. he expects the cars to be in short supply til into the 1st quarter of next year ?

price to be £500 higher than the MY00.

cheers

steve
