fitted decat

Default fitted decat

fitted a down pipe to my 97 sti at the weekend. now when accelerating hard it splutters and wont pull. its worse when the engines cold! any ideas?

Go over everything you did, checking for leaks or damage connections, you could of knocked something off whilst fitting

i have a sti 5 and i had the same prob.
nothing a grand wont sort out!!!!

sure you didnt **** the lambada? do you have any pretty red flashing lights on the dash?

No lights on dash, just sometimes spluttering when on boost.Could it be overboosting ?

IIRC when overboost occurs, the ECU activates the fuel cut, which by all accounts feels like you've run into a wall! stuttering doesn't sound dramatic enough. Does sounds like a Lamda problem.....are your plugs ok?

Classic Stis don't like decats without a remap, though, I'd get that done as a matter of priority, at the very least, you'll get more from your mods. I hope you've also got a knocklink.

echo the lamda idea

To check it just unplug the wiring connector to it, if it drives ok then it's fubbared

Fitted a set of denso iridium plugs today, seems to have cured the problem.
