When PPP is fitted they remove the centre cat. Therefore to LEGALLY decat your car, you have to replace the centre cat and take out the front cats.

I thought the PPP changed Downpipe to a Sports Cat, and decatted the centre?

So if you changed to one of those on ebay, that would give you full decat, but of course you couldn't pass MOT unless you swapped it back.

Not sure how effective the PPP sports cat is, but if its not then change it to a 100 cell sports cat. I have just had this done and remapped, came out with good bhp. The one I bought was the Ninja Sports Cat dowpipe - £299 at the moment. After remapping produced 272bhp & 272lbft, with decat centre pipe, Magnex backbox and JR panel filter.

Just had a bit of a search as i wasn't sure, and the PPP doesn't include a sports cat downpipe, just decat centre and backbox.

So, I would go for a Sports Cat downpipe, like the Ninja I suggested. Quality kit, producing good power with it.

I've just bought a Prodrive Hi-flow Cat downpipe which was fitted as part of PPP on a newage, yes they are 100cel and if you do a search on here you will find a thread with a comparison between a decat downpipe and a Prodrive Hi-flow cat downpipe. I believe Mike from prodrive claims its pretty much the same (I think the ppp one was 2bhp down or something). I think I searched for something like "PPP downpipe Cat" or some variation of that.

Found this on here a while back...

<snip>
For newage UK cars:

WRX - up-pipe catted/ downpipe catted/mid-section catted plus has resonator. None are "high flow" cats.
STi - up-pipe non-catted/ downpipe catted/ mid-section catted plus has resonator. None are "high-flow cats.

When PPP is fitted:

WRX PPP- up-pipe catted/ down-pipe catted/ mid-section de-catted plus has resonator. None are "high-flow" cats.
STi PPP - up-pipe non catted/ down-pipe HIGH FLOW SPORTS CAT/ mid-section de-catted plus has resonator.

The mid section is made of two parts BTW.

So can you buy the STi PPP exhaust parts (up-pipe non catted/ down-pipe HIGH FLOW SPORTS CAT) to fit a new age MY03 PPP ?

Correct with PPP centre cat is removed leaving the one remaining in the downpipe.......only newage have ones in the up-pipe.

I have MY00ppp and have decatted all the way ok if you know a friendly station/ or you could keep the centre section and swap for MOT purposes.

If you still want to stay legal then the downpipe cat would be the one to loose rather than the centre.

Actually the best way to stay legal is to only have the downpipe cat fitted if it is a PPP cat as this gives pretty much the same performance as a full decat system. As shown in the above posts, you are only going to be about 2 bhp down on a full decat. Also the downpipe gets hotter quicker than a center cat so for mot it is better for emissions aswell. With a center cat only you would have to make sure it is really hot before testing. I decatted apart from a prodrive downpipe cat and got 276bhp/279lbft and it stays mot friendly.

Sorry getting confused here surely you mean prodrive centre section and standard downpipe? No changes in DP in PPP option

Pretty high figures really when I had mine RR@scoobyclinic > MY00ppp with decat centre, afterburner backbox only managed 230bhp 250 torque.......you had remap to reach them qouted figures?

The PPP parts can only be bought as the complete kit, prodrive do not sell parts seperate.

For a WRX you will need...
Up-pipe decat
down-pipe race cat
mid section decat

or

up-pipe decat
down pipe decat
and keep centre cat

I would suspect that removing the up and down-pipe cats on a WRX would give you the greatest and cheapest gains, while leaving the center cat in place and still pass MOT's?
It can get confusing when we are talking WRX and STI on the same thread.

He must have.

As I posted above - I have Ninja Sports cat downpipe, Magnex centre de-cat and backbox, JR panel filter and remapped on Saturday to 272/272.

Before remap I had 230bhp also.

Yeah sorry forgot to mention, remapped after I had them changed over. Yes I meant an STI PPP exhaust fitted to a wrx with a decat up pipe. I had an STI PPP downpipe (prodrive sports cat), center and back box fitted and bought a decat up pipe. Then a remap. I was lucky and got a good deal on a nice second hand one.

If you have a PPP wrx then you would need a decat up pipe. Your center is already decatted. You then decide on leaving your standard downpipe in or fit a high flow downpipe. Would strongly suggest a remap after any exhaust changes like this to get the full benefit.

This thread is v confusing, as some people (inc. me) are talking about classics and others new age.

Sorry! didn't notice it was for a 00. Just to clarify mines a newage.

If it is a classic with PPP it only has a cat in the downpipe then?
