I used to use Optimax & Millers OB(handy as 1 bottle per full tank) when I had a MY95 WRX. I then fitted a knocklink, no activity whatsoever. Stopped using Millers OB, just Optimax, still no activity unless on motorway and only then had the occassional first green.

Since then, general opinion is that with the Z4 ecu (which mine had), no need for booster.

Depends on model, mods etc. etc.

Does it have red or grey inserts in the seats? Grey means MY95 so Z4 ecu, red means MY94 - not Z4 ecu, in fact not sure what ecu...?

Z4 ecu should be fine with just Optimax, as I found out with mine. Mine was also fully de-catted, with a green panel filter - and still no knocklink activity with just Optimax.

what vehicle, year and model?

What state of tune, parts fitted, mild, medium or full blown monster power?

Which ecu are you using, eo or aftermarket?

Ok it has the red inserts on the seats. The car is more or less standard the only upgrades are k&n air filter, dump valve and exhaust.

Thanx.

In that case, its not a Z4 ecu, so to be on the safe side I would use booster. A good upgrade for your car then would be a Z4 ecu. Not only would it give you 20bhp more instantly, but its a much better map, and with your basic mods you probably would not need booster. They are often for sale on her for about £100-£150.

If you had a Z4, 99% sure with your mods you wouldn't need booster.

I haven't done it, but as far as I am aware, you just remove the existing ecu (in passenger footwell) and plug in the Z4. Reset the ecu (or just disconnect the battery for a while) and hey presto - 20bhp more, and better mapped for Optimax.

Do a search, this is a common mod for pre MY95s

As my car is a jap model doe you know how i would also get the delimiter taken off because it only has a max speed of 112 mph at the moment.

Cause with some ecu is also removes the delimiter is this correct?????

Thanx.

Yes, but the Z4 will still have the delimiter. 112mph is plenty surely
