Sounds like limp mode to me.
You have a problem somewhere
Go though the usual, what fuel you using, any mods etc.

AS Performance in Birtley seem to have a good rep around that area. I would give them a ring and see what they can do for you.

This may sound silly but is the speedo working?
Jap imports go into limp mode if the speedo is disconnected...

Im assuming for this to be done, it will have to go to a specialist?
I am going to book it in for a diognstics check if all else fails im sure that will cost me a fortune

does the engine sound loader,i think its prob limp home mode due to coil pack failure my95 had that happen due to overboost because i put a bleed valve on it,ive learnt my lesson now i wont do that again.if you take the battery leads of over night reconect in the morn you will reset the ecu then you can swap the coil packs around to find the one thats broken, shop around though for coil packs there priced differently at every subaru dealers.good luck daz

Update,The car is running alot better ,part of the problem was a couple of splits in the air pipes around the dump and the acuatior may be on its way
I hade an error code and it was 23 mass air flow sensor so the pipes got changed, so it is a lot quicker im going to reset the ecu and see how that goes
