i would start off looking through the dealer parts list mate, unless you want to throw away that extremly valuable warranty you have.
possible prodive springs, if there not already on the car

I have made small warranty friendly modifications to my 53 plate WRX which have made it even better. I started with PPP, then prodrive springs and then 18" wheels with the best tyres money can buy.
The PPP bits and bobs made it sound and respond like a subaru should. The Prodrive springs and settings made it more stable and eliminated the motorway warble. And lastly the 18" PWRC1 wheels and Mich PS2 tyres gave me even more out of the PPP in lower gears, not to mention regaining the comfort of the original springs. The car feels awsome now and is just loosening up nicely at 11k miles.
Will be considering other minor add ons with ultimately a remap and maybe a different exhaust system when it needs replacing. But for now PPP, Springs, 18's and a top notch set of tyres is the best warranty friendly way to make your Scooby even more enjoyable!

im going to try and hunt it out as it basicly said not to bother buying anything other than the 300. They tested all the cars back to back and all had detonation, and they said this was due to the CHEAP way mitsubishi had upped the power, ie by using a piggyback ECU.
Has anyone else seen this or not, i may have the technical point amiss slightly but the general consensus was not to buy one, safley tune a 300 instead for alot less money

The EVO VIII MR FQ 340 Used a unichip piggy back to upgrade it from a 320 to the 340 bhp. Numerous tests said that the mod was NOT a problem.I have had 3 of them and I never had a problem what so ever.
The EVO IX MR FQ 340 has a re-flashed ECU to obtain the same results.
If you aer going to mod the car the 320 is the best option. If like me you wanted to retain the warranty and get the nice leather and the almost useless sat nav go for the 340.
Yes you can tell the differance between the 320 and the 340.
Dealers don't seem to mind about de-cats either. It debatable weather any performance increase is actually acheived but the sound alone is well worth while.

very true, but once out the warranty is when your going to see these engines letting go. with detenation, its a time thing, not instant
so if we are talking about cars out of warranty, i would be going the 300 and tuning it just to be on the safe side.
i have had to many ebgines let go on me and it cost (pardon the french) a fecking fortune
