Default blob or hawk?

guys im in a muddle,i have been doing a bit of shopping around.i have been offered:

"1"a new blobeye sti(crystal grey, one of the last left in the uk) for 9000 along with my own wrx

"2" or wait around 8 weeks for a demo hawkeye sti for 12500 along with my wrx

its gona cost me around 15,000 to move into a new hawkeye right away(past my budget)

i was thinking of going for the first choice as i can aford a nice set of pp7's and the ppp.the other choice its going to be bog standard car for a while,
cheers barry

Get the Blobeye, much better looking IMO.

(I'm not biased either, I drive a classic)

What's all this about losing the burble. My 06 sounds pretty much the same as my 98 and 93 did before they were decated. It's another scoobynet myth!!!

Get the latest model you can afford. The blobeye was a kludge.

A fully decated MY06 will sound just as good as classics and bug/blob eyes imho... personally i went for the hawk even tho the dealer was doing some very good deals on unregistered blob eyes. Why, because if i'm buying a new car i want the latest version (untill subaru changes it yet again ).

I have a feeling this model will stay a while. The bugeyes styling was too advanced for a lot of buyers - still sold well though. Then came the blobbyeye, basicly a big lump stuck on the front of the bugeye spoiling the lines. The new version keeps the bugeye lines and has a modern look, it's a winner.

maby im behind the times but i do like the blobeye, but then i have'nt seen to many hawks on the road yet.

the dealer also told me yesterday that one of his buyer's had put his car on the rolling road and it was showing around 297 bhp as standard"do you think this is right?"it was a hawkeye by the way

Very well put....I'd always confused 'advanced styling' with 'hideously ugly' before now

LOL
You would have thought that they would have taken note from ford with the last Granada wouldnt you?
Though the bug eye does grow on you after a while but the blob eye is a nicer car to look at and the hawkeye is just stunning

I reckon the blob eye is far better lookng than the hawk/japs eye. But the 2.5 engine would swing me.

blob eye sti with ppp all the way mate scoobies appear to be getting lardier as the models go on. im not so keen on the new model but i think i say that with all new models of any car and they do grow on me after a while.

i know the 2.5 does tempt a little but if you look into it more ,the reason for the engine swop was more about being green and nicer to the ozone etc
the jap specC still use's the 2000 cc and its all about the performance!

Hawkeye is way to nice a name. Japseye should be saved for the old shape though, more dicks drive them.

I can only go on my own experence, but I far prefer the 2.5 engine than a 2.0 for a day to day fast road car, admitted I have not driven the latest spec c and both my 2.0 and 2.5 are modified.

I would say drive both and see of the 2.5 in the Hawk drives better. (Suspect it will feel more torquey )
When driving dont have to see the silly headlight and the vents everywhere.
Not a great fan of the hawk eye looks to be honest, (it is slowly growing on me - but seem very colour dependant, personally think they look best in black as it looks that little bit more toned down!)
Richard - happy for now in a blob eye !

Lots of people say the 06 drives smoother like a bmw or audi unlike the kick in the back style of past models. The 06 sounds nothing like older scoobs with its equal headers. in standard form that is. a fully decatted exaust would sound more evo like than scoob burble.

Ive just bought a prodrie blob and love the sound styling and even the interior. 06 rear end and sound just doesnt do it for me. i only like the new front end witht the type RA splitter

Just been through this myself. Don't particularly like the new styling so traded in my 03 WRX PPP this week for a new 05 sti. Evo mag arrived yesterday and is not particularly enthusiastic about the 06 sti (only 4 stars) even if it did match the Evo IX FQ-320's lap time.

its looks like its a personal preferance thing!to be honest im sorry i ever sold my my99 but you do have to move on.
i think im gona go for the blob, spec it up and enjoy it for 3 years or so,by that time we will be having a debate about the hatchback that they are goning to make!
why dont they just go retro and remake the classic,i'd buy one for sure.
