Default Achieving 350bhp'ish

Hi All,

I've got a 52 plate STI V8, totally standard. After emailing my local specialist regarding upgrades I was quoted...

Power can be increased up to 350bhp for around £1500 Stage 3, this includes ECU Upgrade, Fuel Pump, Full Stainless Steel Exhaust System Inc Cat re-placement pipes.

Does this sound like a reasonable figure for the upgrades? Obviously there are no manufacturers mentioned which will make it hard to "compare" the quote, but does this list sound right for achieving 350'ish?

Thanks Paul

Very similar to PPP, except PPP isn't full system, just backbox and high flow CAT.

350bhp is questionable however..... but since warranty won't be an issue on a MY02/03, why not have a look at TSL 333 which is tried and tested if PPP doesn't float your boat.

Thanks for the advice talizman, do you have any links to TSL333 info?

Ok, so it looks like 330'ish bhp with the stated mods for circa £1.5k, sounds like a good deal as isn't PPP about the £2k mark?

True, but many Scooby owners are $hit scared of warranty unfriendly mods, so opt for PPP. It truly does change the car though, but a 333, or 350 would be sweeter.

Like I said, warranty isn't an issue for you, so I'd advise against PPP.

Yeah but you are 310bhp as standard compared to 265bhp for STI UK

Your exhaust/filter/remap have given you circa 32bhp, and should be considerably more IMO.

Full decat exhaust and remap on my old classic gave me 296 bhp and 301 lb/ft torque a gain of circa 80 bhp

i knew there was a reason why i bought a jdm though don't think they are are 310 out of the box - more like 300. As for the mods - think you will find that is about right - all work has been done by powerstation and they know what there doing up there

I think you'll find that the best mappers in the country, like Andy F (who did mine) will tell you that a full de-cat and remap on a Scoob should give you much more than 30-40bhp!!!

God, a de-cat with NO remap should give gains like that!

I would have thought a decat and re map on a classic would have ended up with a maximaum of 270 bhp

Am kicking out 360 bhp on my ver 7 STi using;
APS 3" exhaust with sports cat
GEMS ecu
Uprated fuel pump
Tubular headers and de-cat up-pipe
Also fitted FMIC.

I have just fitted a FSE regulato so will be interesting to see what the rollers show on my next run. Besides TSL there is G-Force Motorsport in Aylesbury who did my tune up. They do exhaust, ECU re-mapand fuel pump as a package and I think that gives 350.

Oops....

Just remembered that my 296bhp run was with a VF28 after my TD04 went ar$e up!

270-280bhp is more likely on a classic with decat and remap, circa 25-30% hike.

On a 310bhp JDM with decat and remap I'd expect well over 342bhp......
