Help! ..... STI Version 4 = Big Rear Discs?
#1
Hi Y'all,
One for the techy mob amongst you....
I've got a late 97/98 STi V4 Type R...I had it serviced the other week, and was told that all my brake discs were warped...Guess that explained the cars recent tendency to slew across the road under fairly heavy braking!
Anyway - Fronts aren't a problem to source...
But rear's - Well; That's another story!
Apparently it has the ultra rare Big (296mm) and Vented discs...Only used by Subaru for 9 months....And possibly a part mainly fitted to the Rally car's...
Has anyone had any experience of replacing these items?
Were they easy to come by?
Or are they of the same ilk as bits for the grey 22B's, whereby all parts are hand rolled on the thighs of Geisha's, and transported to the UK by carrier dove? (i.e It'll need to come from Japan and might take a while!)
Cheers!
Ross.

I bought set of 4 discs a while back from racetech in blackburn - they did the 296mm vented discs as a custom order - sourced from mintex - they also anodised them gold, drilled + grooved - all 4 for £350 delivered - worth giving them a ring if you are having difficulty - 0870 7450825 I think - they use the 'tormos' brand to advertise - see: http://www.brakesonline.co.uk/tormos.html
