STi5 type R jerky ride
#1
Anyone got any info on how to cure or what may be causing my Scooby Sti-5 type R' to be a jerky ride at 3-4000 revs. It was referred to as 'shunting' by one informed person.
On motorways when following slower cars its a real pain. I guess its one of the engine montoring points doing its thing after i had all the Manifold and exhaust upgrades done by Scoobysport. Someone else must have had this happen on their car. Or, i may simply have a faulty unit/sensor somewhere.
Has anyone had a UNICHIP or Possumlink done on the same model of Scooby and how did it run after?
Has anyone done the K+N Ind Kit and changed the inlet pipe to a BPM version too on this model. What was the result?

Hey Dennis,
I've gotta STI V4 Type R....
Dunno if this trait is endemic to them....If you're indecisive with the throttle (Or simply can't use full boost due to slower cars!), I find the car is verrrrry jerky...The only way I can dial it out, is to either not boost the turbo (difficult & boring! ) or be very progressive/smooth with the throttle... i.e never using full throttle in higher gears till over 4500rpm-ish...
I'm sure the techy's on the list will be able to make better suggestions...
Sorry I can't be of more help!
Cheers,
Ross.

I have a Ver 4 and have the same problem.I also get it at low speeds(behind a slow car!).I have a Link which did not make it better as you have to cope with a more sensitive throttle aswell.I thought this was all down to my crap driving skills!!
