Wow indeed, I noticed this earlier and it is a bit of a revolution (no pun intended!)
You wonder whether any of the major manufacturers will take up the idea or simply nick it and design there own. But as it stands, it's probably the freshest idea in 50 or more years!

Wasn't there some publicity regarding a variable compression/capacity designed by Saab last year - had a 'hinged' block/head that moved in relation to the crank shaft.
Anyone recall this?! Can't remember any links...

I was involved in the press launch of the engine on the 1st Octob er and the claims that they were making are very much on the cautious side.
Mayflower reckon that it will far exceed any figures they have published so far in terms of reducing fuel consumption & reducing emissions.
They have worldwide patents to cover all aspects so nobody can nick the idea. They are looking to sell the concept to all engine manufacturers for a fee and then a royalty payment for each engine that is subsequently produced. This technology can be applied to ANY engine.
I have got a nifty MPEG animation of the thing working vs a conventional engine if anybody would like it e-mailed let me know (its about 8.5mb !!)
