Question

Hi Peeps,

When I bought my car from the dealer, brand new, it had a full tank of petrol in it. I think all scoobs come like this. Does anyone know if they are filled up in Japan with 100 RON fuel, or are they filled up in the country the car comes too? In my case The Netherlands.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

I think they are filled up in the country they are bought from (Netherlands in your case). I can't imagine them shipping them with 60 litres of potentially explosive fuel in them?

Filled up by the dealer - if you're lucky! Gertjan gave me the petrol receipt when I picked my car up from Holland.

Cheers,

Ian.

So are they shipped 'dry' or 'wet' (i.e. do they ship them with oil, brake fluid, etc.)?

hi guys, I work in the shipping industry and see new cars roll of everyday. All cars are shipped with the tank almost empty, probably just enough to drive the car on and off the ship. Most large ports do have an onsite petrol stattion and this will most likely be 95ron (cheap stuff). They will then fill up car with just enough petrol ( a few litres) to get to dealers and then its up to them what they put in it before they hand it over to you. Besides fuel, all other fluids are left in the car as normal for shipping.

All cars I've bought from dealers usually have 'vapours' in the tank
