Default Dilema

Hi newbie here.

Im test driving a scooby tomorrow but im having a few doubts about it now ive been speaking to a colleuge who has an 05 STi, it states on the car that it is a WRX STI PRODRIVE Type UK and i has all the info about being 305 bhp etc..
When i asked my colleague about how to check if it is a prodrive model he said it should have blue hoses, i didnt notice this on the engine but im sure it had ProDrive on the exhaust.
Now im confused if its a genuine model, it just shows as an STI on the insurance but this could be down to being done after....

Is there any way to tell for sure if its a ganuine ProDrive??

Ask for the PRODRIVE Certificate and CHECK it with PRODRIVE!

BugEye looks like this at the front:-

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/MrRee/BUGEYE.jpg

It's the ugliest, and much less desirable, of any Impreza ........ 20p would be too much for a Fugly!!

A Classic is the best of the lot ...... get the last model year, a 2000 and you get something that wets the appetite like this:-

It was listed at 15995, when i asked the guy why so cheap he said that he had already sold it twice and it had come back both times because they couldnt insure it (BOLLOX), he laughed at me when i said i could insure it (26) so i went back with a quote from greenlight of £850 and he was gobsmacked.
My mate thinks something isnt right as its too cheap (its now 12995), i think i need an expert to come take a look...

Tell your Insurance that it has PPP!!!!

Some Insurance places don't even quote with PPP!!!

The STi Prodrive is a MY02 only. I know because I have one, and bought it brand new.
It should look like this,

The PPP is an extra add on.

Cheers

And just so you don't look for blue hoses everywhere,.... they should be ..between the intercooler and inlet manifold, and also between the turbo and intercooler....

There will also be a blue hose attached to your brain........ to suck the style sense out of you if you actually buy a hideous looking car like the BugEye!

I saw them when they were launched at the Birmingham Motor Show .... they were ugly then and haven't grown on me whatsoever!

Now now pslewis, this car could become his pride and joy! Lay off. At least it's not as ugly as a classic estate with a towbar

Somebody please tell me that this whole thread is a p155 take, the fact that ps lewis commented within minutes to a so called Newbies thread suggests that it is.

If it is genuine then before you part with your hard earned cash, Do some homework on this site and the net, make sure you know what you are looking for and what you want/need ! I'm not trying to sound patronising but make sure that your head rules your heart not the other way around !

EH??

Poster asks, "Is there any way to tell for sure if its a ganuine ProDrive??"

pslewis answers, "Ask for the PRODRIVE Certificate and CHECK it with PRODRIVE!"

Not sure if it's a wind up first post, but I answered it genuinely enough.

This is a prodrive buddy,

Frayz,
Have you got something wrong with your eyes?
The supposed Prodrive?
I suggest you have another look at MY CAR.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/MTR/STi7.jpg

It IS a PRODRIVE STYLE Impreza STi MY02.
It has got exactly the same bumper on as the picture of the black one you posted, and the Prodrive side skirts, and the blue dials, and is described on my V5 as a Subaru impreza Prodrive.
And I have owned it from new.

Crazyman1979
Oh and by the way they do not haver a blue intercooler hose with PPP.
They are fitted on classics and WRX's, the STi's utilise the std fit red one.

Cheers

As above the prodrive edition has body alterations and is standard at 265bhp.PPP can be fitted as an option to take it to the 300bhp mark.If it has ppp it should have a certificate. If its being sold as a prodrive version and not ppp it wont have a certificate. MY means model year so the prodrive version is only on an 02 or 52 reg number and there wont be any blue hoses.

Hi crazyman. If the car you want to buy is the silver one in the quote above then it's defo not a prodrive. Looks like a standard WRX dressed up a bit to fool you.
