Sorry Stephen - but thats a load of crap!!!
A FULL s/s exhaust is a very good way to see significant gains on the MY01 - check Scoobysport web site for dyno information. They have also now developed a de-catted "up-pipe" which they claim is good for another 19bhp on top of standard.
The only benefit from the PPP is a bit more CLAIMED torque (although so far dyno runs on PPP's have shown a lot less torque than the 261 claimed) and (important for me in the end and why i went for a PPP) you RETAIN your 3 year warrenty.
Either way, your on to a winner. Cost/warrenty should be the biggest issue. Either one will do the stink!

The up pipe and downpipe gave 19bhp and 18lbft over the standard ppp set up
If wishing to use a combination of ppp and Scoobysport parts, the up pipe is essential to maintain the same safety margin. The ppp/scoobysport car tested showed 259bhp and 258lbft.
I don't have figures for the full Scoobysport system, including up pipe but without ppp, but would estimate approx 250bhp and 240lb of torque. The figures for my own car on the dyno site are without the up pipe and with only 3,000 miles on the car. Up Pipe fitted and loosened up, its a different animal
See also http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=49100.
I am very surprised that the achieved ppp figures are universally so short of what is being claimed.

Hi Pete! Thanks for correcting me on the UP info! Soz!
Is it a normal thing for IM/Prodrive to quote performance figures for the PPP and then the reality be something completely different?
Im sure if you started claiming 20% more than your kit actually gave you'd get in trouble!!
From a "chairman of SIDC" point of view can i ask you if you think it is it worth owners with "under performing PPP's" () contacting Prodrive/IM about it - or is this just a fact of life??

Hi Stephen
If any non approved part causes a fault, then Subaru won't cover the repair. If you fit a non approved part and the failure has not been caused by this part, then its a valid claim.
The only grey area would be whether a non approved part caused the fault.

We tested this extensively.
The standard 01 PPP set up runs an ignition retard of 7-8 degrees from target on full boost. With a turbo back system, this increases to 11 degrees. The limit of available retard is 12 degrees.
When we fit the up pipe as well, the retardation returns to the original values.
As for performance... just stunning
We will not fit a downpipe to an 01 PPP without our up pipe
This only applies to WRX 2001/2 cars.
