How much difference does an exhaust resonator make?
As above guys,
My 02 sti prodive has a full decat and a rear jap style box from hayward and scott. They only standard bit left is the resonator section.
However i have a new centrepipe on the way without the resonator?
How much difference will the new pipe make sound/performance if any?

I changed it on my legacy (single turbo the same engine as yours) to a straight through one and instantly noticed that the car was louder. Not too much so inside but slight. It didn't seem to make that much difference to the performance but I'd just fitted loads of mods at once including td05 and remap.

93db at 4500rpm although the Fujitsubo back box is known to be quite quiet.
As others have said, large increase in volume, tiny increase in performance.
Edited to add:
If you do track days you may be over the Db limit as a few of the lads I went up with found out last season.

My GF wouldn't call it nice, or my neighbours (except the 19 year old a couple of doors up), my Dad would have, I might unless I was sat quietly somewhere!
Imagine the blub, blub, blub rumble you get now and let's say it's at about an eight on the dial. Removing the resonator will turn it up to 11.

I fitted a decat SS centre pipe and it was way to load, I then fitted the PPP resonated pipe and it was much quieter even than the standard catted centre pipe and there was less resonance in the cabin area so imho a resonated decatted exhaust is smoother and quieter than the standard one. When used in conjunction with a louder back box. I much prefer mine now than when it had decatted DP standard mid and T75 BB now it is full decated and sounds better as it is resonated.

Yeah Dave that was me, sorry i didnt realise exactly who you were at the time.
Well ill fit it and see what happens, if its not nice then i'll swap it back. It does sound really nice at the moment, but more than anythin i dont want a mild steel bit in the middle of my exhaust lol.
We'll see
