Ok, 95blackwrx. Japanese import cars are supposed to run on much higher octane fuel (100 RON) than our standard 95 RON, so unless you use the highest octane fuel you can get plus octane booster, you are at risk of pinking. Worst case scenario is melted pistons or big end failure if you don't heed the warning signs.
well i was old car was pinking when it was on rolling road. took the car to another garage they said the car had a slight misfirebut they could not hear any pinking. had the boost solenoid cleaned to help boost problem, this helped a little. i have put new coils on it now, but if i am going slow in 4th or 5th and try to accelarate the boost rises and as it gets faster the boost dies and car goes into i suppose would be limp mode. only way to get it out of this is to disconnect battery and reset ecu

i would say you NEED to get looked at fairly quickly or dont push the car more than 2000rpm till it is sorted, as Bubba said "Worst case scenario is melted pistons or big end failure if you don't heed the warning signs."
went to greer sport about this problem. it is caused by the car overboostin.mb need to change my ecu from the zero sports one. found this out after i bought 4 new coils and three port boost solenoid

Maybe so but you did the right thing and it hasnt cost you a new engine by a long shot
