Have you tried your Subaru main dealer - you might be surprised. My last timing belt cost Euro56.

You certainly will be surprised if you try your main dealer, I had a 60k service on an MY00, full service and cambelt + tensioner. £730, that's what I call a surprise. Cheers Haddocks in Colchester, I won't be coming back.

I was quoted £380 for the service that INCLUDES a Cambelt change @ R.N.Golden, for that price it is almost not worth me doing it myself (MY05 WRX btw)...

lukily i have no labour fees or out so im luky in that respect but it does make me think how fortunate iam when i see some of the prices you peeps have to pay at times.... its crazy the difference in servicing costs/repairs (like on this thread) you see pop up! if i cud du it my self i certainly would

but then on the other hand like above you see some very decent service costs

just goes to show how fortunate you are if you have a nice and helpful local dealer/servicer!

Thumbs up

Ok, this was in October 2004, but my dealer Vale Motors in Somerset was a paultry £180 inclusive for cambelt change. Genuine parts I presume, have the bills but car is new to me. Part no was 13028AA200 Belt, EJ205/EJ £83.70.
Labour £69.54. IIRC this is booked as under a two hour job.

Subaru made a big thing of cutting parts costs not long ago, so you may well be in for a surprise next time.

Steve.

wow, that's cheap labour! just had a quote for my next service and the cambelt change alone comes to just shy of £300

sounded a bit dear then, sounds even dearer now!
