Hiya people,

The scooby is going very shortly and I need to buy a runaround car for a while. I have a budget of between £1500-£2000 maximum although £1500 would be nicer. Its got to be reliable and nippy and not toooooo old... Want a normally aspirated car ideally..

So far Im considering a mk3 golf gti 16v (i love vws).

Need some ideas peops please!

hmmm, golf seems a sensible choice. id say clio 16v aswell. cos altho the older ones are a bit tinny they do go on and on

I'd go for a Nissan Almera/ Primera. Chain driven cam, your budget will get a minter.A GTI MK3 will be crashed thrashed by now. Running costs will be minimal which if you're on a budget must be a huge consideration.Not the most exciting drive but it won't break down.
