What MPG ??

Not exactly what you wanted, but more realistic, over 2005 my wrx MY2000:
Averaged just over 22mpg (round town),
Best was 25mpg (Motorway),
Worse 20mpg (any country road !!),
Furthest on a tankfull 290 miles,
and it cost me £90 more over the year to use Optimax than ordinary unleaded, a bargain I think you'll agree !
A bit sad, I know, keeping track of the above.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Which version/year?
Either way VERY driver dependent.
MY97 UK Official (according to 93/116/EEC standard (the old method - which is diffrent to measuremnet methods used on current models)):
Urban: 17.05mpg
Extra-Urban: 29.04mpg
Total: 23.06mpg
Real world MY97 UK:
I'm generally quite easy going and will average 24mpg...22mpg in town. 27mpg on the country A-roads and fast motorway, and can just tip 29mpg on a sedate motorway cruise.

I thought after a remap it should be better when cruising as subaru run it rich to start with. I know it will use a lot more when giving it some but surely an optimised fuel map is more efficient when on the motorway?

I was getting 32 during 'run in' keeping the revs below 3K (ie no turbo spool up) ..don't see why that should be any different now with the ppp fitted..
You could drive wonderfully for 50 miles at 35mpg then boot it for 20 at 20mpg and you average would now be 26-27mpg...

Problem is, on the average (classic UK) scoob when cruising at 80mph=3000rpm...just where the Turbo wants to play.
So a very tiny movement of the throttle sends it from running in vacuum or 0bar, (nice and efficient) to running on boost (not efficient).
Therefore to keep efficiency is trying not to move the throttle once your up to speed and keep it off boost- hard work when a such a tiny movement can cause such a large increase in fueling.

If they say, "about 22mpg on a run"
Then you know to walk away!! Chav driver/owner or, at the very least, RoyBacer ............
If the answer comes back as, "38 on a run and never less than 28 around town"
Agree to buy the car on the phone STRAIGHT away!!!!!!
It's been looked after and driven properly!
AND you are probably ringing ME up - and my car is the most desirable on ScoobyNet!!!
Isn't it chaps and chapesses??
