Question Bumper removal/towbar fitment MY00 classic

Hi,

Ive got an MY00 classsic turbo (saloon). I've got a Brink detachable tow bar that I want to fit. The instructions state that you have to remove the rear bumper. How do you do this? Is it a nightmare to put back on straight? Is fitting a towbar a DIY job or should it be left to a proffessional?

Cheers in advance for any help

HI Ernie,

This won't be much help, but it's better than nothing.

I bought a second hand towbar for my MY00 bugeye wrx off Ebay (£35).

The instruction kit was with it which is a must, don't try it without one.
It was quite easy to do but labour intensive, a full day.

From what I remember the bumper comes off ok (and goes back on ok), but it is difficult to locate all the nuts and bolts and clips initially. Some are under the wheel arch the others in the boot, and under the bumper. The electrics just plug into the wiring loom if it's a Subaru Electrics kit, if not it's a case of a lot of splicing.

If you get stuck or want any other advice, let me know and I will dig out the instructions and have a proper look. The cars should not be too dissimilar.

Regards,
Graeme.

Cheers mate, thanks for the reply and info.

Yeah its got instructions, but not a step by step guide on how you get the bumper off. It just says "remove bumper." The rest of it seems OK. I'll start it first thing tomorrow.

Thanks again
