Track Day Info Please
Sorry for sounding like at ****, Could some1 please help me or tell me the following about trackdays
If I pay for a trackday e.g. Silverstone does this mean that I can drive my car around there for however long its open on tht day.
Are there normally lots of people on track
Is it worth the money
Any advice to do with trackdays would be very greatfully received as I have never done 1 but would like too.
Many thanks

Normally on track days they let a group of cars out at a time for a set time. Bring your own helmet coz if you dont you will need to hire one at the track. The biggest bit of advice i can give is take out track insurance as a just incase coz on a track the normal insurance wont cover anything that could happen. It is worth the money but if its your first time take it easy for the first few laps to get used to the course

Castle Coombe is good but its hard on tyres. If you go round Coombe the 2 corners to watch out for are Quarry and the right hander before the start/finish line

The WYIOC (West Yorks) club hold their own trackdays twice a year at Blyton ( www.rally-drive.co.uk ) and we run 5 cars on track with no overtaking. If you are catching someone up we advise that you simply ease off for a few seconds, create a gap and then resume. The track is only 1 1/4 miles and quite narrow, so combined with amatuer drivers overtaking would be asking for trouble. Details of our next one will be posted in the WYIOC forum soon.

If its your first track day then I would suggest you go for an airfield one. Not only are they cheaper but they have large run-off areas should you have a moment.
Bruntingthorpe is ok for this......
Bedford is good for run off areas.......
Mallory park isn't too taxing........
Castle combe I wouldn't do as a first time, the barriers are pretty close in places.
